Haven: Silent Night

HavenTonight Syfy will be premiering special Christmas editions of three of its popular series. The night concludes with an episode of Haven, entitled, "Silent Night"

It's the middle of July, yet everyone in Haven, except for Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), believes it's Christmas, much to her annoyment. Everyone is in good holiday cheer and decorating the town, which Audrey soon learns, is not a joke.

HavenPeople in the town start not only mysteriously disappearing, but once they are gone, they are forgotten by everyone except for her. Audrey enlists Nathan (Lucas Bryant) and Duke (Eric Balfour) to help, but what will she do when those close to her are gone and the town population continues to drop? For once, even Vince (Richard Donat) and Dave (John Dunsworth) aren't aware of the troubles in the town. This time, Audrey is on her own. Will she be able to solve the case before she is the only one left?

HavenI really enjoyed this episode of Haven. Out of the three Christmas specials, this one to me felt the most like a normal episode; I actually found it a bit creepy with everyone vanishing.

Though I am used to seeing more of the great interactions between Audrey, Nathan, and Duke, it was still great to see Audrey work on her own and do what she has to do to save the town or lose everyone she cares about. It was also interesting to have her work on a case where Nathan is the skeptic, having a hard time believing that there is a "trouble" in the town, since he is not experiencing it.

The episode may not be a cheerful one, but it does have its moments, and seeing Duke as Santa was a special treat. It was also great to get some more insight into Audrey and why she doesn't enjoy the holiday celebration, though hopefully by the time Christmas really does role around in Haven, she knows she has friends to enjoy it with.
