Friday, The Roku Channel premiered the new series, The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the book series of the same name by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The series follows the Grace family, including Helen (Joy Bryant), her fraternal twin sons, Jared (Lyon Daniels) and Simon (Noah Cottrell), and her daughter, Mallory (Mychala Lee), as they move from Brooklyn, New York to their ancestral home, the Spiderwick Estare, in Henson, Michigan. There, Jared discovers that magical creatures are real, but no one believes him except his great-aunt Lucinda (Charlayne Woodard). She asks him to find the missing pages from her father’s field guide to magical creatures to keep it safe from the ogre, Mulgarath (Christian Slater).
