Los Angeles, CA (October 30, 2015): MarVista Entertainment, a leading independent producer and distributor of features and family entertainment programming, has acquired the global distribution rights to 3rd Films Terrordactyl in the run up to the upcoming American Film Market. The announcement was made today by Vanessa Shapiro, EVP, Distribution, MarVista Entertainment, and Stephanie Slack, SVP, Acquisitions and Co-productions, MarVista Entertainment.

Terrordactyl“MarVista has had great success with titles in the vein of Terrordactyl in the global market, and we are excited to have signed our agreement with 3rd Films to launch this movie at AFM for all our buyers,” commented Shapiro.

Terrordactyl features two ordinary guys facing an extraordinary situation—flying reptiles who cause chaos across Hollywood—it’s a creature feature like you’ve never seen before, and the making for a fantastic franchise,” added Slack, who negotiated the acquisition for MarVista.

Terrordactyl is directed by newcomers Don Bitters III and Geoff Reisner, working from a script by Bitters who has previously worked as a visual effects artist on television shows such as Betas, House of Cards, Quantico and Supergirl. Reisner has previously worked as a cinematographer on features including Crossroad and No Greater LoveTerrordactyl is produced by Eric Edmonds with Bitters, Reisner, Christopher Jennings, Lucas Solomon and Thomas P. Jennings serving as EPs.

TerrordactylWhen a meteor shower rains down outside Los Angeles, Jonas (Jason Tobias) and Lars (Christopher John Jennings), two friends stuck in tired, boring lives, head out to find a meteor and strike it rich. After recovering one, they start being stalked by terrordactyls, ancient flying reptiles that launch a full-on assault on the city. Trying to survive, they go on the run where the unlikely heroes, along with Candice (Candice Nunes), a tough-and-sexy bartender, Valerie (Bianca Haase), her sultry roommate, and Sampson (Jack E. Curenton), a constantly drunk and brash ex-marine, soon discover that there's more to the meteor than meets the eye.

MarVista will also be screening two movies at this year’s AFM including the theatrical horror title Most Likely to Die, which gets its US Premiere. Commented Shapiro, “Most Likely to Die had its festival premiere a couple of months ago at UK’s Film 4 Fright Fest, and we’ve had a great response so far with wickedhorror.com magazine saying it’s “smart, fun, scary and very funny with a terrific cast,” and “as slashers go, this is one of the strongest offerings in years.” We are excited to now give the movie its US debut at AFM.”

In Most Likely to Die, starring Glee’s Heather Morris, Ryan Doom and Perez Hilton, the night before their 10-year high school reunion, a pre-party for a group of friends takes a deadly turn when one-by-one, former classmates go missing and turn up dead, each murdered in a manner that pays gruesome homage to their yearbook superlatives. With their numbers dwindling, suspicion and mistrust pit friend against friend in a deadly race against time.  Most Likely to Die is a Snowfall Films Production presented by MarVista Entertainment. Anthony DiBlasi directed from a script by Laura Brennan. MarVista’s Margret H. Huddleston and Hannah Pillemer served as producers alongside Suzanne Lyons and Michael Tarzian.  MarVista’s Fernando Szew and Sharon Bordas served as executive producers. Most Likely to Die will screen on Thursday, November 5 at AMC 4, Santa Monica at 1:00 pm.

Also screening is the thriller Caught, which premiered earlier this year in the US at LA Film Festival (June 12).  The film stars Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2), Stefanie Scott, Sam Page (All My Children, Mad Men), and Amelia Rose Blaire (True Blood). In Caught, high school senior Allie's secret relationship with Justin – a charming older guy – is the highlight of her otherwise mundane teenage life. What she doesn’t know is that Justin is a married man, and when his manipulative wife Sabrina discovers the affair, she enlists her reluctant younger sister Paige to help kidnap Allie to “teach her a lesson.” Allie’s concerned mom reports her missing, and the police launch a missing person investigation. Initially meant to be a prank, the situation spirals out of Sabrina’s control, leading her down a destructive path as she scrambles to salvage her picture perfect marriage. Caught is a Covert Films Production presented by MarVista Entertainment.  Maggie Kiley directed from a script by Marcy Holland.  Jennifer Westin served as producer with MarVista’s Kristofer McNeeley serving as associate producer. MarVista’s Fernando Szew and Sharon Bordas served as executive producers with Hannah Pillemer serving as co-executive producer.  Caught screens on Friday, November 6 at Broadway Cineplex 3 at 1:00 pm.
