SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet
Lost Girl 3.06 Review: “The Kenzi Scale”
By John Keegan and Paul Pearson
Double the Kenzi — that’s a recipe for success, right? But it’s not just a gimmick to get us into the story, it’s one of the more intense episodes of Lost Girl we’ve seen since Bo and Kenzi took on Baba Yaga. Even the previous season’s finale didn’t come close to building this kind of tension and fear, because the threat has been built up over several episodes and we feel, for one of the first times in the series, that our protagonists are in real jeopardy.

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
So often with this show, there has to be manufactured stakes for the Case of the Week. It’s often ignored for the more serialized elements because it doesn’t last longer than one episode. Leave it to a mock trial to somehow increase the stakes for everyone here. The beautiful thing is that it’s all telegraphed from the start. Normally, that would be cause for concern because it would make the complications and resolution predictable, but everything that was happening was so engrossing that the episode overcomes that.

By John Keegan and Paul Pearson
The previous instalment of The Walking Dead was a bit disappointing. Most of its attempts at drama fell flat, especially the decision to split off Daryl and Merle from the chain gang, and the only real progression of the plot was done in an awkward, jarring way that didn’t ring true. Sadly, much of “Home” follows the same trend of indulging in sideplots and character beats that don’t feel important or necessary to the main story. It’s only the very strong climax that puts the episode back on track in a big way.

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys
Person of Interest is really starting to hit on all cylinders. Much like the second season of Fringe, its late, lamented sibling from the Abrams stable, it is seamlessly blending its stand-alone elements with just enough peeks at the underlying mythology to keep everything percolating. In fact, it’s doing it better than Fringe at that similar point, which bodes well, given that other show’s trajectory. The episode is called “Booked Solid,” and it is, in every sense of the words.
