NBC’S ‘RETURN TO DOWNTON ABBEY: A GRAND EVENT’ REVISITS ICONIC CHARACTERS AND CAST AS FANS HEAD TO THEATERS THIS FALL FOR MORE TIME WITH THE CRAWLEYS AND COMPANY

Hourlong Special Airs Thursday, Sept. 19 and Whets Appetite for Sept. 20th “Downton Abbey” Movie

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Sept. 4, 2019 – Giving viewers a chance to celebrate and have an inside look at the upcoming feature film “Downton Abbey,” NBC and Focus Features are collaborating to revisit the beloved series on the special “Return to Downton Abbey: A Grand Event,” set to air Thursday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m.

The film “Downton Abbey,” which features the returning cast and a story highlighted by a visit from the King and Queen of England, opens in theaters Sept. 20.

The hourlong special, to be hosted by two-time Emmy Award winner Derek Hough and filmed at the historic Highclere Castle in England, will talk to the cast about what made the series so unique and appealing to millions, as well as how the series easily segues into the feature film.

In addition, celebrities will share their “Downton” obsession and talk about what made the show so addictive.

This character-driven genre thriller follows a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all. ABC’s intriguing new drama series “Emergence” premieres TUESDAY, SEPT. 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - New York Premiere Screening - 8/27/19

The enchanting world of Thra came alive at Netflix’s New York premiere screening of Jim Henson’s “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” on Tuesday, August 27 at the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI). The evening kicked off with a star-studded purple carpet where voice-over cast members, Keegan-Michael Key, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Isaacs, Hannah-John Kamen and Donna Kimball, along with Lisa Henson (Executive Producer and CEO & President of The Jim Henson Company), Louis Leterrier (Executive Producer and Director), co-executive producers and writers, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, and Ted Biaselli (Director, Original Series at Netflix) were in attendance. 

The event continued with a pre-screening reception where attendees were given a special advance sneak-peek of the spectacular puppets (featured in the series), from the Jim Henson exhibit at the MOMI entitled “Creatures from the Land of Thra: Character Design for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” which officially opens on September 11 and continues through February 23. The exhibit will explore the design process behind the series’ fantastical characters, featuring puppets, maquettes, design material and behind-the-scenes images from the new Netflix series that offers a prequel to the 1982 film co-directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. 

The reception was followed by a screening of the first episode of the highly anticipated series, with opening remarks by Ted Biaselli (Director, Original Series at Netflix) and Leterrier (Executive Producer and Director). The evening concluded with a panel discussion between Henson, Leterrier, Grillo-Marxuach, Addiss and Matthews, moderated by Isaacs, who kept the audience laughing throughout the conversation.

DISNEY+ ANNOUNCES NEW SERIES AND SHOWCASES EXCITING SLATE OF
HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED ORIGINAL SERIES AND FILMS AT D23 EXPO 2019

This afternoon, Disney+ made its D23 Expo debut with its first-ever showcase presentation, announcing new series in development and revealing key details about the highly-anticipated streaming service to an enthusiastic audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. The event showcased the sweeping array of talent with in-person and video appearances from the stars of Disney+’s original programs and included sneak peeks, trailer premieres, and exclusive news about the service and its upcoming projects. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the Disney+ original film “Lady and the Tramp,” hosted the lively presentation.

This season, the first of four vampire elders has been freed and legend has it that when their four Totems are combined the Dark One will be resurrected. Now it’s a race against time as Vanessa and her ragtag group of heroes faces off against the forces of darkness.

Van Helsing is a total re-imagination of a timeless brand, set in a world dominated and controlled by vampires. Season four continues the story of Vanessa Van Helsing and her band of heroes as they fight to reclaim the world after vampires took over during 'The Rising'. The series will delve deeper into the iconic lore of the vampires and their ultimate goals for this world. New villains will rise along with unexpected heroes joining the fight.

Van Helsing comes from the producers of Fargo and Hell on Wheels. Acclaimed director/playwright Jonathan Lloyd Walker serves as showrunner.
