Murderbot follows the story of a private security cyborg, SecUnit (Alexander Skarsgård), who after disabling its own governor module, secretly frees itself from the corporation’s control but must conceal its independence while joining a team of human researchers on dangerous missions. In the most recent episode, which premiered today on Apple TV+, the crew, who has taken in DeltFall survivor Leebeebee (Anna Konkle), works to repair SecUnit’s damaged systems in the aftermath of his near self-destruction. Tensions flare, as in the process, Gurathin (David Dastmalchian) discovers that SecUnit has overridden its governor module and is now fully autonomous. Despite initial suspicion, most of the crew side with SecUnit, knowing it has been trying to protect them. Later, the episode culminates in a dangerous mission to manually trigger a distress beacon, resulting in an explosion that leaves the fate of SecUnit and Mensah (Noma Dumezweni) uncertain.

Based on the Alafair Burke bestselling novel, The Better Sister is centered on Chloe (Jessica Biel) and Nicky (Elizabeth Banks), two estranged sisters whose lives diverged after a traumatic incident involving Nicky’s loss of custody of her son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan), to her then-husband Adam (Corey Stoll). Years later, Chloe is married to Adam and raising Ethan as her own. When Adam is brutally murdered, suspicion falls on Ethan, drawing Nicky back into the family’s orbit.

Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado, who served as showrunners and executive producers on the series, recently spoke with SciFi Vision about adapting the novel for television, casting, and more.

The balcony containing the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) continues to fall as the buildings and reality itself crumbles around him. Suddenly a door appears behind him which reveals Anita (Steph De Whalley) from the Time Hotel. She pulls him inside.

Meanwhile, the Rani (Archie Panjabi) and Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson) question that he’s used a magic door, but it’s too late for them to get him back, as it turns midnight and time resets. Ruby (Millie Gibson) and Belinda (Varada Sethu) wake up at the beginning of the 23rd.

The Doctor remembers Anita and thanks her. She explains that the world hasn’t been destroyed and opens a door midair above the city. It’s May the 23rd again; time keeps resetting after it gets to midnight as it’s done hundreds of times. The Doctor notices that Anita is pregnant and hugs her. She tells him about the baby boy’s father, Ricardo. The building shakes and a warning goes up around the building to abandon the hotel. She explains its in spasm, because they are in 4202, but the world keeps ending in 2025. Anita questions that the Rani is a Time Lord and starts to tell the Doctor that she looked for his TARDIS. She says that her time on the job taught her so much, and she would go looking for him on her days off.

“The Reality War,” the season finale of Doctor Who, dropped later than usual this Saturday on Disney Plus, as this afternoon it was simulcast with the UK. In the episode, the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) faces off against the Rani (Archie Panjabi) as she prepares to open a door to Omega (voiced by Nicholas Briggs). The Doctor must not only stop the threats and save the planet, but rewrite reality to save an innocent life that could mean the end of his own.

There is a lot to unpack with the episode, which was jam packed with craziness and timely-wimey that only the Doctor can bring. First off, out of the gate, I loved Anita (Steph De Whalley) coming from the Time Hotel to save the Doctor. She was a great one-off character originally, and I also was delighted with the bits in this episode of old footage with her visiting other incarnations of the Doctor. Although her arrival was a way to a quick resolution to the conundrum that the Doctor (and the rest of the world for that matter) found himself in at the end of the previous episode, with him plummeting to the disintegrating Earth, it worked and left room for the rest of the action in an already extra-long episode. It also brings more examples in this season that have been throwbacks to earlier episodes in the current Doctor’s run as well as the classics.

The tragedy forces Chloe to reunite with her estranged sister Nicky (Elizabeth Banks), who is also Adam’s ex-wife and the biological mother of their teenage son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan). As suspicion falls on Ethan and the investigation uncovers hidden family secrets, Chloe and Nicky must confront their painful past and work together to protect Ethan. Throughout the ordeal, Catherine Lancaster (Lorraine Toussaint), Chloe’s mentor and friend from her publishing world, provides crucial support and guidance, helping Chloe navigate the media storm and personal crisis that follows Adam’s death.

Although now free, SecUnit, pretending to still be under corporate control, decides to stay with the group of humans who have rented him for protection, even if he would prefer to binge-watch soap operas then interact with them. In the most recent episode, the team heads across the planet to find the fate of the DeltFall team who they fear might be in danger. SecUnit arrives to find that not only has the DeltFall team been killed, but someone has also hijacked their security unit’s programming by installing a combat override module, and whoever is responsible, is still lurking nearby.

Recently, creators and writers of the series, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz, who also directed some of the episodes, spoke with SciFi Vision about bringing their version of Murderbot to life, what made them want to adapt it, their favorite parts, casting Skarsgård, and more.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter brings a new story to the franchise, this time taking place in Belgrade, Serbia. Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), a Librarian from 1847 finds himself stranded in the present-day world. Upon his arrival, he accidentally unleashes dormant magic across the country, forcing him to join forces with a new team of unlikely heroes each with their own unique skills, including a tech-savvy historian (Bluey Robinson) a scientific genius (Olivia Morris), and a formidable Guardian-in-training (Jessica Green), to recover magical artifacts and prevent the threat from spreading.
