The Time Traveler’s Wife, which is based on the novel of the same name by Audrey Niffenegger, premieres today on HBO and HBO Max. The series follows the love story of Henry (Theo James) and Claire (Rose Leslie) and their subsequent marriage. However, they have the unique problem that Henry is an unwitting time traveler.

Dealing with time travel, the story bounces back and forth between Claire meeting Henry at different ages, out of order, as she grows up. Executive producer and writer of the series Steven Moffat has some experience telling stories out of time, having been the showrunner on Doctor Who. “I don't think out of sequence is as difficult as people think it is,” he explained to SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable. “I think our memories work like that anyway. I mean, the story of your life is stored in your head. You know the story of your own life. Is it in sequence? If you think about your life, do you think of day one, day two, day three? No, you face a whole jumble of events that are ordered by priority or interest that are linked together, because they're about the same thing or happened in the same place. The story of your own life is nonlinear. Your life is linear, but the story of it is a mess, and, frankly, it would take you days to try and work out in what order anything happened…So, in a way, stories are like memories. There's a chaos of events, and the links between those events are about the subject or emotional or their context.”

On AMC’s most recent episode of Fear the Walking Dead, in order to get Strand (Colman Domingo)’s ear, John Dorie Sr. (Keith Carradine) planted a walkie on Howard (Omid Abtahi), Strand’s right hand man. Towards the end of the episode, although Strand knew the truth, he tasked Dorie with throwing Howard off the roof, and he complied, hoping that earning Strand’s favor would protect Baby Mo. However, in the end, knowing that Strand wouldn’t change, Dorie knocked him out and took Mo to Morgan (Lennie James), getting bit by a walker in the process.

Carradine, who found out before filming the back half of season seven about his character’s demise, recently talked to SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about Dorie’s motivations in the episode. “John had one over overriding concern, which was Mo and what is going to be best for that child,” explained Carradine. “I think that he could have gone either way, in terms of which side he came down on, in terms of who he was going to work with and cooperate with, as long as the end result was going to be the survival of that child under the best possible circumstances. So, I think that as he was dealing with Strand and Strand’s paranoia and obvious, complete unpredictability about how he might respond to any given situation. I think that he simply took every moment as it came and would make decisions in that time as to whether that was going to lead to him being able to do the best thing for the child. Then, finally, as you saw in the episode, when push came to shove, he had to make the choice that he made.”

Shining Girls follows Kirby Mazarachi (Elisabeth Moss), who after a brutal attack, is left with reality always shifting around her. When she discovers a recent murder has connections to her assault, she teams up with reporter Dan Velasquez (Wagner Moura) to understand what is happening to her and to confront her past and her attacker.

Jamie Bell, who plays the part of Harper Curtis, Mazarachi’s attacker, talked to SciFi Vision at a recent roundtable about balancing what to pull from the book or the script and what to add creatively when creating his version of the character. The actor got some help from the author when deciding where he should pull from. “Lauren gave me a copy of her book,” said Bell, “and she wrote this incredible inscription that I'm desperately trying to remember, because it would make [her] sound very clever, and she is very clever, obviously…[It was] kind of like this idea that he needs control over everything, because the idea that things just happen randomly is terrifying. It's the idea that things are set in stone, and [yet] you can control them and bend and change them at your will. That's kind of like the power of a god or something. It really is like this incredible ability when you think about it, and the idea that it might just all be actually random and that you don't have control even over yourself - which he doesn't have control over himself - is just terrifying to him. I thought that was such an interesting description for her to put in the book.”

Recently, season two of Undone was released on Prime Video. The animated series, which comes from creators Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg, follows Alma (Rosa Salazar), who after a car accident finds herself with a unique connection to time.

Season one of Undone meant different things to different people and could be interpreted in different ways. Season two is no different. “I think everyone's gonna get something different from it,” Bob-Waksberg told SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable. “I mean, I would want people to go in, depending on where they are in their own journey, they're going to meet it at some point, and hopefully, they'll take something meaningful from it and continue along their journey.”

“There is no set message or one single takeaway that we want people to get,” he added. “I don't think it's a didactic show like that.”

Outer Range, which is available to stream on Prime Video, tells the story of Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) and his family, whose lives change after he finds a void on the edge of his ranch. Recently, to promote the series, SciFi Vision talked to some of the cast about what attracted them to their respective roles.

For Pullman, who plays Rhett Abbot, Royal’s son, it was partially the location, but he also found he related to the character. “For me, personally, it was [part] of the world of Outer Range that I was really familiar with. I grew up partially in Montana, and my aunt and uncle have a cattle ranch out there. So, that was something that really touched a chord with me.

Amazon’s Outer Range blends both Western elements with the supernatural. The series tells the tale of Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) and his family’s battle with a rival family, the Tillersons, who are trying to take their land. When Abbott finds a mysterious void in the pasture of his ranch, everything changes.

Shaun Sipos, who plays the character of Luke Tillerson, was attracted to the series partially because of the Western genre. “I've always loved that genre,” Sipos told SciFi Vision during a recent interview. “This is not your typical Western. You have a bit of genre bending here. You have a Western with a sci-fi element to it, about a rancher that finds a metaphysical hole on his property, and that really grabbed me. Also, this piece doesn't feel just like a TV show. It felt like a Western play in a way, and at its core, it's about family, and that really resonated.”

Friday, season two of the highly anticipated series, The Wilds, premieres on Prime Video. In the first season, a group of teenage girls crash landed on a deserted island, but it was soon revealed not to be an accident, but rather part of an experiment. Season two brings with it a new group of teens, this time male, as the control group of the same experiment.

The island changes all the teens, Nicholas Coombe’s character of Josh in particular. “A lot of Josh's journey happens on the island,” the actor told SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable interview. “We don't look too much into his his past. It's kind of how he deals with what's thrown at him. I think he definitely grows a lot. He goes through a life changing moment on the island. I think, after that, Josh, having the community boys come around him and support him, it really helps him feel loved, and he has friends for the first time in his life. So, I think, overall, it ends up being positive, without giving too much away. I think we leave at the end potential for more, but we'll see.”

Friday, the second season of Prime Video’s The Wilds premieres. Season one of the series followed a group of teen girls who crashed landed on a deserted island, but it was revealed that the plane crash was fake. It was all part of an experiment perpetrated by Gretchen Kline (Rachel Griffith) to prove that women could build a society and survive better than men. Season two introduces the male control group to the mix.

Recently, to promote the series, SciFi Vision spoke with Alex Fitzalan, who plays Seth, and Charles Alexander who plays Kirin, during a roundtable interview.

The two characters don’t always get a long on the island, and we asked the actors about how important personalities versus skills are when it comes to who characters work with and trust while on the island.

One of the things that the males have in common with the girls, however, is that they realize friendship is important on the island. Bo (Tanner Ray Rook) and Scotty (Reed Shannon) already have a strong one when they arrive. “When you're on the island,” Rook told SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable, “and it's high stakes, and it's just trauma and pain, you need somebody by your side, and I think Bo is probably happiest when he's with Scotty.”

The boys group, like the girls, must learn to get along and work together if they want to survival their new harsh reality. “I think that friendship is super important,” Zack Calderon, who plays the character of Rafael Garcia, told SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable. “I think that with any friendship, when put in high stress situations, it definitely tests that friendship; it tests the interpersonal relationship of the people involved in the friendship. And I think, with this show, this is the highest of stakes…and there're countless possibilities when it comes to high stakes.”
