Marcel Vigneron Talks "Quantum Kitchen," Premiering Tonight

Marcel's Quantum KitchenTop Chef all-star Marcel Vigneron is back on the air this week with his new reality show, Marcel's Quantum Kitchen. The series premieres tonight (Tuesday, March 22) at 10 pm on Syfy.

That's right, a personality-driven reality cooking show on Syfy. As the network strays further from its science fiction roots, critics and viewers have been scratching their heads wondering how this show fits into Syfy's plan. But Marcel's focus on molecular gastronomy – using scientific techniques and tools to create innovative dishes – could make sense if the show plays up the science enough.

"I know it seems kind of like an abstract fit," says Marcel. "But once you see the show I feel like it's totally going to make sense. We focus on a lot of the same things. Syfy is all about 'imagining greater,' which is essentially what I and my culinary team are all about."

The series focuses on Marcel creating fabulous events for the well-heeled clients of his new catering company. In addition to creating the menus, Marcel will work with clients and party planners to create an entire experience.

Josh Gates LIVE From Ireland with "Destination Truth"

By Karen Moul

Josh GatesSyfy's going green for St. Patrick Day with a special four-hour live episode of Destination Truth. On Thursday, March 17, host Josh Gates and his team will broadcast from Ireland, where they will brave the crumbling ruin of Duckett's Grove Castle in search of the banshee, a female spirit whose scream is believed to be an omen of death.

Gates is eager to return to Ireland; last March he and his team visited the Emerald Isle is search of leprechauns. "There's this really intense connection in Ireland to their folklore," he says, "and you meet a lot of people who really are invested in these paranormal reports. They really believe that these ghosts are there, they believe that the banshee is there, and they claim to have had these first-person experiences that are really compelling when you listen to them."

The bansee is a ghost who likes to be seen as well as heard. Gates describes the "piercing wail that really defines the banshee. And the sound of the banshee is something that if you walk down the street in Ireland and polled 100 people and asked them about the banshee's wail, you'd be amazed at how many people will have something to say about it."

Reshma Shetty of "Royal Pains" Talks About Her Latest Project

By Karen Moul

Reshma ShettyRoyal Pains' second season has just ended, and will return for a new season this summer. Although Divya didn't get married, star Reshma Shetty is planning to take the plunge and wed boyfriend Deep Katdare, who co-starred with her in the touring production of Bombay Dreams.

"So, my big project has been my wedding," she told us. "Hopefully, this show that I'm creating, i.e. Reshma's wedding, will be really [great].

"I've had fun," says Reshma, "because USA has also helped me. We put together some webisodes about how to get married in New York. It's called Royally Wed with Divya. USA's been amazing! I've never been married before, and I didn't know anything. So [it's me] meeting vendors, finding out what brides need to know, bringing tips to you with a video. I just had no idea it was going to turn out as great as it did!"

After the wedding, Reshma will be back for Royal Pains' third season. And in the future – who knows? "I would love to do a movie," she says. "I would love to do a comedy. And, at some point, I do want to return to the stage."

She might even try producing. "I am attracted to the production side...more the vision of the entire movie or show. I think that interests me. And, I'm sure that at the point I will want to morph into that role. I think I have a good eye for being able to see where a project should go and what its style should be."

But Reshma doesn't take the idea lightly. "I say this for any job: I hate people who just jump into things with no real knowledge, because they never usually do a very good job. I never want to be one of those people. So, I don't want to lightly say, oh, I'll be a producer or I'll be a director. But, there's definitely an interest in learning about it."

"White Collar's" Tiffani Thiessen Aspires to be Elizabeth Burke Everyday

By Karen Moul

Tiffani ThiessenTiffani Thiessen's acting career spans three decades and includes starring and guest roles in more than a dozen TV shows. Now starring as Elizabeth Burke in USA's White Collar, Thiessen says she's finally found a role that mirrors her own personality.

"In the 20-some-odd years I've been [in] this business, this crazy business," says Thiessen, "I feel most like my character this time. I aspire to be Elizabeth Burke every day."

"I love that she really is a very career-driven woman, I love that she puts her relationship and her marriage first. I love the relationship that she [has] with her husband (played by Tim DeKay). There's a lot of love between the two of them, there's a lot of trust, but there's also a great friendship."

Thiessen shares a similar relationship with her own husband, actor Brady Smith, and she says it was the Burke's strong marriage that drew her to the role.

"It's one of the first scripts that I've read in a really long time, that [included] a marriage that actually works. Most of the time marriages on TV are filled with drama and affairs and distrusting each other and it's all the opposite with the Burkes, which is what I really, really enjoy about the relationship."

"You don't see a lot of strong women have strong marriage relationships on TV," she continues. "You just don't see it very often, so that was one thing that I really, really enjoyed reading [in] the script and really falling in love with Elizabeth."

The finale of White Collar's second season airs Tuesday, March 8 on USA. Very few episodes are available online, so new viewers should probably wait for the DVDs.
