Last week Lazaro Arbos was voted off of American Idol, leaving only female contestants.  The Florida native recently talked to the digital media about his time spent on the show, as well as what he has planned for the future.

The singer told SciFi Vision that the best part about being on the show was about who he got to meet. "I got to meet a lot of amazing people that I’ll have lifelong bonds with. I think that this show definitely gave me a stronger mindset."

He also talked about what his upcoming album will look like. "I love love songs a lot, but at the same time I like pop. I’d want to do a commercial pop album, but with some love songs as well."

SCIFI VISION: What do you see your future album like? What do you plan for your music to be like?

LAZARO ARBOS: I love love songs a lot, but at the same time I like pop. I’d want to do a commercial pop album, but with some love songs as well.

SCIFI VISION: That’s great. What was your favorite moment during Idol?

LAZARO ARBOS: My favorite moment of the whole experience? I would say that I got to meet a lot of amazing people that I’ll have lifelong bonds with. I think that this show definitely gave me a stronger mindset.

QUESTION: Since we first saw you during auditions, you’ve become a much more confident person and now you’ve accomplished so much. What is it that you were too afraid to try before that you’re most looking forward to trying now when you get home?

LAZARO ARBOS: I think this show, like I said before, forced me to lose my nerves and step up no matter what. I don’t have any specific thing that I would like to do, but I would, if I had to say, I would say I would love to act.

QUESTION: To act?

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes.

QUESTION: Yes, I heard you wanted to act on Glee.

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes, that is one of my goals after the tour.

QUESTION: If you couldn’t act on Glee, what other show would you want to act on?

LAZARO ARBOS:Modern Family.

QUESTION: That’d be good. Good choice, good choice.

LAZARO ARBOS: Because I love that show.

QUESTION: How does it feel to make it so far in the competition after working hard to overcome so much?

LAZARO ARBOS: A lot of people have been asking me if I’m sad and I’m so far from sad. I am so well. I’ve got so much going on that I am most definitely looking forward for what’s to come in the next. I feel great.

QUESTION: How did this experience change you from the guy you were in your first audition? Do you feel much more confident?

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes. My stuttering has definitely subsided a little bit more. I think that part of that has to do with the fact that I’ve learned to control my nerves better.

QUESTION: What is the first thing you’re going to do when you get home?

LAZARO ARBOS: The first thing I’m going to do, I’ll probably go to the park with my family because I’ve missed them a lot. I know for a fact that my old high school has a pep rally for me, so I’m looking forward to that. We’ll see.

QUESTION: Do you have any regrets from the show?

LAZARO ARBOS: Sometimes I wish I was smarter about taking my song because I think I picked songs that weren’t the right songs every now and then. But at the same time, I do believe that everything does happen for a motive, so no.

QUESTION: Why did you want to audition for American Idol:? What motivated you to go in and audition for the show?

LAZARO ARBOS: I’d like to think the love for performing and the love for music. I’ve always been the kind of a guy that wanted to do something big with myself. I would say that, yes.

QUESTION: What was some of the best advice you got from the judges while you were performing on the show?

LAZARO ARBOS: The best advice, they just told me to stay away from love songs. Love songs didn’t complement my voice. I wish I could have picked much rangier songs for Wednesday night, but at the same time I have no regrets.

QUESTION: It must have been a somewhat emotional night for you last night. I would love to know what was going through your mind as your fellow contestants gathered around you to say good bye.

LAZARO ARBOS: The part that got me the most sad was that I made good friends with all the girls remaining. The thought that I wasn’t going to be with them any more on the show really got to me. That was the hardest part.

QUESTION: You’re going to be, obviously, traveling with them on the tour, which is wonderful, in a couple of months. Was there anyone in particular that you bonded with that you will miss the most perhaps?

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes, I was really good friends with Amber Holcomb.

QUESTION: There were so many fun photos on Instagram of everybody having fun behind the scenes. I was just wondering was it really as friendly as it seemed or were there times where it was a little bit more competitive among you guys.

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes, some of the times. We got along for the most part. I would say that it’s normal to have disagreements and fight, but at the end of the day we got along really well and we knew we could count on each other.

QUESTION: Yes, that really came across. What do you think you’re most looking forward to on the tour this summer?

LAZARO ARBOS: The thing that I’m looking most forward to on tour would be meeting my fans backstage, interacting with them. I’m so grateful for that, for their support, so I can’t wait to meet them.

QUESTION: Did you have any idea that you would be leaving the show last night? Did you have a feeling that it might be you going home or were you surprised?

LAZARO ARBOS: I wasn’t surprised because all the guys have been going home, so I wasn’t shocked that it was my time to go home. I think that all the five women left are so good and in all honesty, winning a TV show wasn’t my main goal. My main goal was to get known and to become a performer. I think I was closer to that.

QUESTION: Do you have any regrets about choosing the songs that you sang on Wednesday night? Do you think if you had chosen a different song that it might have turned out different?

LAZARO ARBOS: Yes, the first song I sung on Wednesday night was kind of a hard song, where it had lots of minor key changes, so it was kind of rough. But at the same time, I think I came back with my last song really well. I don’t think I had any regrets, because I think my last song I did really well.

SCIFI VISION: Is there someone that in the future you’d love to get to sing with, like a famous singer?

LAZARO ARBOS: I think for the finale we are trying to sing with Cher. That’s my goal.

QUESTION: Nicki was always saying every week for a while there that she believed that Jimmy getting in your head, that maybe the advice you were getting from Jimmy was having an effect on your performances. Did you agree with Nicki with that assessment, because I’ve never been in a room with Jimmy Iovine. Tell me what that’s like.

LAZARO ARBOS: Whenever we were in the same room for more than five minutes, he was like a mentor on the show that came in once in a while. We never got to really interact more, but the times we met he seemed really nice. I questioned that, but at the same time I do think that his bad comments bothered me. I did let him get me a little bit down.

QUESTION: How about working with guys on the group number with Burnell and Devin? I know there was a little bit of confusion with the lyrics. What happened there?

LAZARO ARBOS: We’d never heard that song in our lives. I’m not talking for them, but when it comes to me, no. I just think that what went wrong was that we learned them in such a fast time and then on top of that, when you add the pressure of live show, your nerves intensify. I think then that’s not very solid in your brain. You can forget, yes.

QUESTION: Did you say that you were trying to arrange to sing with Cher on the finale and if so, is she a big inspiration to you? Are you a fan of hers? Do you know her songs?

LAZARO ARBOS: I know her. Six months ago when the show came on she saw me and she connected with me. She followed me on Twitter and we’ve been talking back and forth since then. I love her songs.

QUESTION: Before she reached out to you though, you were a Cher fan? You were familiar with her music?

LAZARO ARBOS: I wasn’t too familiar with all of her songs because she came out way before me, but I do love some of her songs. I love “Do You Believe In Love?” I love “If I [Could] Turn Back Time” and I love her.
