Note from the editor: I have included interviews under exclusive if they are private or one-on-one or in person interviews. These were not part of press conference calls or group discussions. These are exclusives that are currently published here at SciFi Vision or as part of one of SciFi Vision's own podcasts, or in some early cases at Media Blvd. Magazine.

I also have chosen to include some interviews from press events that are only open to a select few and not the general press or public, such as convention press rooms and everything from the Syfy Digital Press Tours, set tours, etc. as although they are not entirely exclusive, they do contain exclusive photos and sometimes videos that no other site has (I have started to mark some of these as "Spotlight" as opposed to "Exclusive, but they still remain in this category"), or may be about my own experiences only at the events. Note that in a few specific cases, the set tours were exclusive and specifically for SciFi Vision.

All of the articles unless otherwise noted were written by me, Jamie Ruby, and are copyright © 2017 Sci-Fi Vision. If you would like to post an article on your own site, please let us know first. Please do not use any of the exclusive photos or videos on your own site without permission (it will usually be given). You can find the rest of our published articles, including both interviews and reviews under articles.

Exclusive: Lexa Doig Talks Continuum Season 2

Interview with Lexa Doig for Continuum on May 24, 2013
Interview by Jamie Ruby
Written by Jamie Ruby

Lexa DoigRecently Continuum returned to Syfy for its second season. The series, created and executive produced by Simon Barry, follows Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), a cop from 2077 who is trapped in present day after traveling back in time without her consent with a group of terrorists called Liber8, bent on changing things. One of the interesting things about the series is that the lines are often blurred as it seems Liber8 is trying to create a better and free future, though going about it in the wrong way.

One of the members of Liber8 is Sonya Valentine, played by Lexa Doig, who was left in charge after the death of their leader, Edouard Kagame (Tony Amendola). Originally a doctor as opposed to a soldier, she might have some new ideas about how to continue on. Regardless, she followed through on shooting Liber8 member and lover Travis Verta (Roger Cross), as one of Kagame's last requests. The shot, however, she came to find out, was not fatal.

Doig recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about this season.

Exclusive: David J. Peterson: The Languages of "Defiance"

David J. PetersonIf you've watched Syfy's series Defiance, you've no doubt heard two of the Votan races, Irathient and Castithan, speaking in their native tongues. What you may not realize is how much is involved in creating a language for a series, let alone two. It's not just a few made up words, but rather entire languages are created. These include pronunciation and grammar rules just like any other language. The two languages and writings systems of Defiance were created by David J. Peterson, who also previously created the languages on Game of Thrones.

Peterson recently talked to Jamie Ruby in a exclusive interview for SciFi Vision about what it took to create these languages.

Exclusive: Michael Austin - Life After "The Voice"

Exclusive interview with Michael Austin
Interview by Jamie Ruby and Karen Moul
Written by Karen Moul

Michael Austin of NBC's The Voice is down to its top ten contestants, who will compete again this week in live shows. Looking for some inside scoop, we caught up with Michael Austin, the country artist eliminated from Team Adam during the battle rounds.

Austin knew before his blind audition that he wanted to work with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. "I just wanted to try something different and think outside the box," he explained, "and I figured I had the best shot at doing that with Adam. I really wanted to see how far he'd go or what his ideas on a country song would be."

In the end, it may not have been a perfect fit. "I felt like I was a little bit part of his learning curve," said Austin, "which was non-advantageous to me. And [he admitted] he was getting an education as we were going along. I think he would be a better choice maybe in a couple of seasons from now, if he had more of a grasp of country music."

After five minutes chatting with host Jason Silva, it was easy to see it was not a typical science program. He described Brain Games as a "pop science series that uses perceptual experiments, optical illusions, and interactive brain hacks to create a crack in your perception of reality."

"In other words," he explained, "to create that feeling of doubt, that feeling that what you see is not always what you get. Your brain is telling you something different than what you know to be true. "

How does this happen? Why do we fall for tricks like optical illusions?
