It’s telling that we’re this close to the end of the season, and yet I still feel like this series/season hasn’t figured out where it wants to go or how to wrap all the various threats and problems into one manageable package. Some attempt is made in this episode to combine a few plot threads, but it’s not particularly convincing.

This has been a rather disappointing and troublesome season of "Merlin". Despite obvious efforts to move the show in a new direction and build upon past strengths, this season has been nowhere near the improvement that I hoped it would be. Chief among the show's many flaws is its inability to properly integrate the serialized storytelling into its episodic structure. With so much of the season having underwhelmed me, I pinned the remainder of my hopes on the finale, knowing that the premieres and the finales tended to be stronger than most episodes.

Jeremy LaLonde is the writer and director of the upcoming independent film Sex After Kids, which is about how couples' relationships change after they have children.
LaLonde recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview, as well as joined the Fandom Access podcast to talk about the project.
The idea for the film came to LaLonde in an unusual way. "It's something very near and dear to me. Also I was looking for an ensemble film to do and I literally saw an article in a magazine titled "Sex After Kids," and it just hit me really hard that no one that I knew of had done something this extensive with this topic, and it's an exciting topic that I think people will enjoy discussing after."
The film should appeal to many because it has such a broad potential audience. "It's such a big subject and everyone that has children has to deal with it."

Fox's hit series Bones returns Monday in its new timeslot, with the episode "The Prisoner in the Pipe." In the episode, human remains of an escaped fugitive are found in the sewer. When evidence indicates that the murder occurred inside the prison, Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temprance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) turn to the inmates for answers. Meanwhile Booth wants Brennan to take it easy because she is near the end of her pregnancy, but being stubborn, they end up with an untraditional birth of their new baby girl.

Due to the steadily falling ratings of this show, I would not be surprised if this was the last episode to ever air. As a result, the finale is just not going to resolve anything. My initial reaction to this episode was frustration. There’s nothing worse than following a season-long plot arc, only to realize that most of it was a diversion, with the story circling back on itself when the final episodes arrive and it’s time to get serious about setting up a resolution. While I’ve been able to forgive some of the backtracking and red herrings this season, this latest reversal in the Team Elena vs. Originals saga is maddening.

The back half of this season for "Alcatraz" has featured a good number of returning inmates who have proven intriguing. Add Garrett Stillman to that short list. His complex mind games and unpredictability more than make up for the lack of violence in his crimes. In fact, I think that's what makes him appealing.

There are times when I think I have to take notes on index cards for the complicated plotlines on this show. This episode made it feel like there were three or four different people who want either Bridget or Siobhan dead. On top of that, the writers pile on more about the Ponzi scheme being run by Martin/Charles and another scheme involving land being sold to get Andrew's money back. Though, he might not have that much money if he ends up getting caught perpetuating the Ponzi scheme.
