Mother/Android, which is set in the near future, shows events unfolding when androids, which were built to serve man, revolt and start killing all the humans. The narrative follows a young couple, Georgia (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Sam (Algee Smith) as they cross the country looking for a safe haven before their baby is born.

According to writer and director Mattson Tomlin, screenwriter of the upcoming The Batman movie, Mother/Android was inspired by the story of his birth parents. “The movie started as a love letter to my biological parents,” he told Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview. “I wanted to talk about my own adoption story. I was born [right] after the Romanian revolution, and this very young couple found themselves pregnant with the world totally on fire in this kind of unprecedented situation. They were nineteen years old, and being I was twenty-seven or twenty-eight when I started writing the script, I just had a little bit more perspective on how young nineteen actually is for the first time. So, it was always, ‘I want to tell that story, and I want to make something for them, but I want to do it in a way that is going to be fun and entertaining and kind of throws down the gauntlet for the kind of filmmaker that I want to be.’ And that's that's how it was born.”

Based on the book series by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time is set in a fantastical world where magic exists, but only some can wield it. The story follows Moiraine of the Aes Sendai (Rosamund Pike), a group of women who can channel the One Power. With the help of her Warder, Lan (Daniel Henney), she must find the Dragon Reborn, the reincarnation of a channeler who is prophesied to either save the world from the Dark One or destroy it. In the village of Two Rivers, they come across five young men and women, believing one of them of could be the one they are looking for.

In adapting fourteen books into a television series, it’s extremely important to set the right pace and take the right pieces. Executive producers Mike Weber and Marigo Kehoe talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision during a roundtable about how they decide what to use. According to Weber, “I think it comes out of, what's the best way to tell a story and what's the best way to have a season unfold to the best dramatic effect for an audience that has seen a lot of fantasy,” said Weber. “I mean, there're a lot of shows that have sort of come before this, so it's having it sort of be premium and be excellent for the non-fans and the fans alike. So, choices like that, I think sort of influence what plot was brought up and what characters were made to sort of service that.”

Written and directed by Mattson Tomlin, the science fiction film Mother/Android premieres today on Hulu. The movie takes place in the near future when artificially intelligent androids made to help humans revolt and start killing everyone. The story follows a pregnant Georgia, played by Chloë Grace Moretz, and her boyfriend Sam, played by Algee Smith, leading up to days before the baby's birth when they must cross into android territory to make it to safety.

Tomlin being at the forefront of the project is what originally drew her to the film, Moretz told Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision during an exclusive video interview. “Of course, the story was incredibly well written,” said the actress, “I thought the script was beautiful, but it was my conversation with Mattson that followed that. To hear his personal connection to the story and why he wrote the script and how it's based on his family and what he's been through, I knew immediately that it was a project that I couldn't ever say no to. I needed to be Georgia, and I felt such a palpable connection in that moment, that I knew that there was there was no other option, for sure.”

The series Firebite, which premieres tonday on AMC+, is a vampire series set in a remote desert mining town where the creatures take shelter from the sun in underground mines and tunnels. War is coming to the town as their numbers grow and vampire hunters Tyson, played by Rob Collins, and Shanika, played by Shantae Barnes-Cowan) take up the fight.

According to Collins, who talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable interview, it was both because of Australia’s Warwick Thorton, who created the series, and the subject matter that he joined the cast. “I'd always wanted to work with him. I got a small taste of it on an Australian series called Mystery Road, the second series. He's kind of just one of our go-to amazing directors. So, there was that and vampire killer. So, those two things combined, I just had to do this project.”

Yael Stone, who plays Eleona on the series, told the SciFi Vision that Thorton was also a draw for her as was the unique take on the vampire story. “The scripts that I was sent were just so fascinating. I just felt like we have not done this before. We've not addressed Indigenous Australian history and a kind of violent colonial Australian history in this way before, using a vampire metaphor before, and I think it's extraordinarily creative. It's a really clever way in telling that story, and it's got heaps of joy and laughs and fun, and then, at it’s heart, it's got this incredibly powerful and incredibly serious metaphor as well.”

The Expanse returned last Friday for its sixth and final season, picking up right where it left off.  Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander, Tyrant) and his Free Navy are still at war with Earth and Mars, with most of the characters lined up against him. After betraying Marco, Camina Drummer (Cara Gee, Strange Empire) and her crew are on the run, while James Holden (Steven Strait) and the crew of the Rocinante remain free agents working with UN Secretary General Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo).

The Expanse is a space saga, but it’s also about finding your family, and if episode 6.01 (”Strange Dogs”) is any indication, it looks like this season is going to stretch its families to the limit. The gang on the Rocinante are still grieving Alex (Cas Anvar)’s death last season, and they’re not all thrilled to have Clarissa, aka Peaches (Nadine Nicole), aboard. Drummer’s people on the Tynan are also reeling from their losses, and as captain, she is going to have to make some tough decisions to save the people she loves. Marco, meanwhile, is having trouble with his own family – namely his son, Filip (Jasai Chase Owens). Still a target of Marco’s cruelty and manipulation, Filip is using alcohol, sex, and bravado to quiet his inner conflict, with limited success.

In a recent episode of Ghosts, “Possession,” Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), enters the body of Jay (Utkarsh Ambudar), possessing him, which meant that Ambudkar had to emulate the character, which he pulled off brilliantly. “Rebecca laid all of the groundwork for me to just sort of fill her shoes as best I could,” Ambudkar told SciFi Vision during the Winter TCA panel, saying that Wisocky provided him all the source material he needed. The actor added that they did have a few notes back and forth, but he still wanted to do his “own version” of Hetty.

Wisocky told the site that she was “blown away” by Ambudkar’s emulation of her. “He really channeled an essence of this character that I at some moments wasn't even aware I was bringing to the table,” said Wisocky, adding that fans online responded positively.

During the panel the cast also treated everyone to a sneak peek of the upcoming episode “Therapy” via a table read of a few scenes.

Earlier in the season of Fear the Walking Dead, Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James, brought a sick baby Mo into the tower and used the opportunity to try to try to kill Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Why was now the time? According to the actor, who talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview, Morgan’s mission is to keep Grace (Karen David) and Baby Mo safe, and he’s become desperate. “I think Morgan operates best when he has a mission,” said James, “almost every time we see him, he's either setting himself a mission, or a mission has been provided for him…whether it's him setting off on a mission to get away from people, [or] whether it's the current mission that is occupying his soul, which is to find someplace that is safe and livable for Grace and Baby Mo…I think it's a measure of the level of desperation they find themselves in on the sub. They've got weeks left of food, and food is scarce, and he has to find an alternative, and the thing that's in his way is Strand. I believe he goes into the tower with already the intention of taking Strand out one way or another, and while he's there, he formulates the plan of how he's going to do it.”

His mission is changing again, and Morgan doesn’t want to be the one in the lead anymore. In the mid-season finale, which aired last week on AMC, he looked to Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) for help. “I do believe that he did come to a realization that he could lead the place, but, again, in the sense of him having ambition, every single time with Morgan, he's saying, ‘I'm going to take you someplace that we can build a world.’ And it's always that once that mission is achieved, I will move on, or I will step back. He's not interested in governing. He's not interested in being in in charge. He's interested in keeping the people he loves safe.”

NEW YORK, NY – December 6, 2021 – AMC announced on tonight’s Talking Dead the renewal of Fear the Walking Dead for an eighth season with Kim Dickens, who played fan-favorite character Madison Clark in Seasons 1 through 4, set to return to the series.  Dickens will make her first appearance in the second half of Season 7, returning Sunday, April 17 on AMC, and continue as a series regular in Season 8. All episodes of Fear the Walking Dead continue to be available one week early on AMC+, beginning on April 10.

Deadmore, Kim Dickens’ face would be on it.  Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU — heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence,” said Scott M. Tonight on AMC, The Walking Dead: The World Beyond came to a close with its series finale. Nico Tortorella, who plays the character of Felix, had quite a big fight scene in the episode with Lieutenant Newton (Robert Palmer Watkins), which the performer said was their favorite part of shooting the entire series. “There was a lot of work that went into it,” said Tortorella, “weeks of fight training and choreography. Steven Ho who was [on] one of our stunt teams was an original Ninja Turtle. The guy who was Robert Palmer Watkins’s stunt double was also Captain America’s stunt double, like all of these stunt legends in this room. And we worked our asses off on that fight. There were so many moving parts.”

They added that since the two of them picked the choreography up quickly, more walkers were added to the scene. The double-sided S-pole that Tortorella got to use was their favorite, even if it was heavy with steel rebar running through it. “There were a few numbers where I flick it up in the air and catch it that in one hundred plus degree heat in leather head to toe with a pending tornado; it wasn't the easiest thing to accomplish, but all [that] being said, I'm so thrilled with how it came out. I think there's such a focused energy from both of us that is really, really strong.”

Tonight AMC airs the series finale of its spinoff series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. In the finale, the group finally makes it beyond the reach of the CRM, but some are injured and others lose their lives.

Nicholas Cantu, who stars as Elton on the series, told Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision during a recent roundtable interview that was satisfied with his ending, even his character losing an arm after being bit by a walker. “I'm still so jazzed about that,” said the actor. “When we got to film that; [it] was like the little blue sleeve CGI stuff. That was so fun. That was like sci-fi zombie stuff. I was like, ‘Yeah, lost an arm. That's apocalyptic. I love it.’ That was great.”

Julia Ormond, who plays Elizabeth Kublek of the CRM, talked to the site a bit about the last scenes of her character, who really didn’t get a resolution. “I don't think they really resolved her getting what she deserved, but I think it left it sort of kind of open ended, and I think the stuff caught up with her that was kind of surfacing anyway for her.”

Kublek made a lot of immoral choices during the series, which according to the actress, was a difficult part of the character to connect to, especially because she herself is a pacificist and doesn’t believe in war. On the series, however, it’s about limited resources. The actress told SciFi Vision, “I think once I got to the point of, ‘Oh, this is a completely new world, a post-apocalyptic world means there are very few human beings left.’ So, instead of having to just defend the boundary of your nation, or the ethics and value system of your nation around the world, in a war, your boundary is now we have to protect the human race…[I]t's not even a huge shift for soldiers who are defending something to shift into ‘We are now going to start committing genocide,’ because as soon as you work out [that] there're only limited resources, you switch to the patterns of behavior that you've seen throughout communities in The Walking Dead. One community is out to kill the others, because they understand that there are limited resources.”
