Video Interview: Resident Alien Showrunner Chris Sheridan Teases What’s to Come for Season 2

Chris SheridanTomorrow, Syfy airs an all-new episode of its hit series, Resident Alien. In the second season of the series, rather than still trying to leave the planet, Harry’s goal is to protect Asta (Sara Tomko) from the other aliens who may be coming. During a recent roundtable interview, showrunner Chris Sheridan talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision about Harry’s need to learn empathy and to care about others. “He doesn't really care about everyone else dying,” said Sheridan. “He’s fine with that…It's just Asta he wants to protect, so journey-wise, what he needs to realize is what Asta is trying to hammer into him: you can't just be okay with me surviving. What about everybody [else]?...Harry doesn't understand the concept of that. He hasn't learned empathy yet; he hasn't learned this connectivity between human beings yet that we all - most of us - know inherently just by being kids and growing up in the playground.

“...So, his journey, especially in season two, is to learn empathy and to learn to love and to appreciate and care about people outside of Asta.”

So, I was aware that people had a very, very strong image of who he was.”

However, that’s hard to do if people are after you. “Also, the world is coming after him,” continued Tudyk. “Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) is coming after him, and their friendship is very unlikely at the beginning, because Harry happened to inhabit…the body of a murderer. Exclusive: Alex Kingston Talks A Discovery of Witches & Doctor Who

***The following interview contains spoilers for 3.01***

Alex KingstonSaturday, an all-new episode of the series A Discovery of Witches premieres in the US. In the third season of the series, which is based on the third book in the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness, Diana (Teresa Palmer) and Matthew (Matthew Goode) return from time walking in Elizabethan England to continue their quest for the Book of Life.

Alex Kingston, who plays the role of Sarah Bishop, Diana’s aunt, didn’t know anything about the novels before taking on the role and was a little bit skeptical at first, but once she started reading, she was intrigued. “I thought it was a very good kind of parallel to the lives and the world that we find ourselves in as humans,” said Kingston during an exclusive interview with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision, “which is sort of the disparity between ethnicities, the lack of inclusion, the fear in some cases of what people might consider different cultures, and that was all represented within the creature world as well. So, I thought that that was actually an interesting take to follow.”

One of the things the actress really enjoyed about the role of Sarah was that she could just let it all go. “She's sort of in sloppy clothes,” the actress explained, “…It was kind of fab. I didn't have to care about looking ‘just so’ like so many characters for women, you know, executives or whatever; their hair has to be straightened, and they have to look super ‘on.’ I didn't need to for Sarah, so that was actually fabulous.”
