SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Awake 1.4 Review: "Kate is Enough"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

once_upon_a_timeImagining what might have happened differently in one's life is something a lot of us do on a lark. It's a pipe dream, of course, but in the case of Michael Britten, it's something he's literally experiencing.

Justified 3.10 Review: "Guy Walks Into a Bar"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

Justified_iconAs this episode was running, I actually felt the slightest bit of sympathy for Quarles. Then I remembered that he is a low-down, sadistic psychopath who is probably even more dangerous now that he has nothing to lose. Boyd had made it his mission from the beginning to get rid of this interloper, and with the sneaky way in which he stole the sheriff's election out from under Quarles' clutches, his job was finally finished.

Ringer 1.18 Review: "That Woman's Never Been a Victim Her Entire Life"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

ringer_iconThis episode was running efficiently for about a half hour, stumbled a bit, then recovered its footing somewhat at the end. Frankly, I think that's quite an accomplishment given the narrative maze that's been created and passes for an overall plot. That's the impression the show gets when this is the first fairly straightforward episode done in a long time.

Merlin 4.12 Review: "The Sword in the Stone: Part 1"

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

merlinAs I've come to expect from "Merlin", the really big plot developments are always saved for the finale, which generally makes them the highlight of any season of the show. Unfortunately, this has the effect of making a lot of the episodes in between feel like filler. This year was a bit better than any previous one in that regard, but it still falls well below my expectations. Still, we're at the finale now, and it's hard not to appreciate it for basically being the kind of episode that we really should be seeing a lot more of on "Merlin".

Once Upon a Time 1.16 Review: "Heart of Darkness"

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys

once_upon_a_timeRegular readers know that I have wondered how much latitude the House of Mouse will allow “Once Upon A Time” with its treasured characters. Apparently, the producers aren't unaware of this question. The answer they provide in the opening of “Heart of Darkness” is, quite a lot, thank you very much.

Jessica St. Clair & Lennon Parham are "Best Friends Forever"

By Lynn Tackitt

Best Friends ForeverIn a world of what seems to be endless bad reality television, where the female role models lower standards in droves, NBC is changing that by putting out a comedy starring Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham in a new show called Best Friends Forever.

This show is not only starring these talented ladies, but was written and produced by them as well. This is their baby and it looks to be highly energetic and true to form on two best friends and the men in their lives that have to deal with them.

Talking with these ladies, they have shared that they have a background in improv comedy and a lifetime of experiences to draw from for storylines. If you should compare them to Laverne & Shirley, they won't be offended, they would be honored. As they discuss their new show, and how they want to keep it fresh, but still want you to get to know their characters, you can feel the energy that these ladies are putting into their show.

It airs on NBC April 4, 2012 at 8:30 (ET) and looks to be a great addition for some lighthearted stories and tons of laughs.

The Secret Circle 1.17 Review: "Curse"

By John Keegan

the-secret-circle-iconIn an episode seemingly designed to bring some sense of clarity to the series, at least in terms of who is ultimately the one behind all the various threats, there was quite a bit of messiness. At least the writers managed to deal with some of the loose ends, even if it still feels like they are flying by the seat of their pants.
