SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Server Issues

Recently the server on which this site resides has been under maintenence. While I'm not sure if the front end was affected much, my joomla administration panel was working incorrectly - I could not save or publish articles. It seems to be back up and running. I apologize for the lateness of some of these articles and any inconvenience.

Lost Girl 1.13 Review: "Blood Lines"

By John Keegan and Paul Pearson

Lost-Girl-Season-2-thumbGotta love a big finish. In that respect, the season finale of "Lost Girl" certainly delivers and makes up for the string of weaker instalments in the past few episodes. It doesn't lack for action, plot developments or characters moments, all of it played really well and all of it climaxing in the kind of finish that would make "Buffy", "Supernatural" and "Being Human" fans happy and wanting more.

Fringe 4.17 Review: "Everything In Its Right Place"

By John Keegan

Fringe-Glyphs-meu-anjo-17630623-160-160You know what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder? Well, that was certainly true in the case of Fauxlivia and the Alt-Fringe universe. While this was as much a story about Fringe Prime’s more timid Lincoln Lee finding his “right place” in the scheme of things, it was also a welcome return of the Alt-Fringe universe and its connection to the larger scope of the mutual war against David Robert Jones.

Game of Thrones 2.2 Review: "The Night Lands"

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

Game_of_Thrones_iconExciting, gripping, shocking, thrilling, funny, scary--these are all words that could have been used to describe "Game of Thrones" at various points throughout its first season run. But even when it wasn't any of these things, one word continually came to mind to describe it, even in the slowest parts: "interesting". "The Night Lands" is still smack in the middle of the setup phase, and it's going to take a while for things to really get going. But even at its slowest, with the least plot progression occurring, it's still just plain interesting. I could say something to the effect of "this is as bad as 'Game of Thrones' ever gets", but the variance in quality on this show is so subtle that the remark is rendered almost meaningless.

Awake 1.6 Review: "That's Not My Penguin"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

awakereviewiconMichael's mental deterioration is accelerating at a rate that I never expected. At the very least, I thought he would grow more comfortable with the two worlds he inhabits before the rug is pulled out from under him. This episode proves that he is losing the grip he has on the situation. Being in a high-stress job like police detective doesn't help things.

Person of Interest 1.19 Review: "Flesh and Blood"

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys

person_of_interest_iconOne of my favorite catch phrases from '80s TV is Hannibal Smith's, “I love it when a plan comes together.” What served as self-satisfied punctuation for the A-Team's campier antics can now sum up the latest, far more serious “Person of Interest”. The season-ending arc has begun, and if the three episodes to follow live up to this opener, an already impressive first season will rocket into the critical stratosphere.

Justified 3.12 Review: "Coalition"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
Justified_iconRobert Quarles just can't seem to die. Multiple people in different parts of Kentucky and even another state want him dead, yet he keeps going like a cockroach. It's amazing, really, given that he's descended to being a drug-addled rogue psychopath. That seems to make him even more dangerous.

Ringer 1.20 Review: "If You're Just an Evil Bitch, Then Get Over It"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
ringer_iconI should give credit where it's due: Catherine is a much better schemer and master manipulator than Siobhan ever was. All Siobhan ever wanted was to get money to run away with her lover, and maybe stick it to her twin sister and ex-husband as she leaves their lives permanently. Catherine has much clearer motives, goals, and methods.

The "Awake" Advertiser Project

Fans of Awake help with ratings and getting the word it out about the great new series in whatever ways they can. I recently found out about The Awake Advertiser Project on Twitter. In edition to trying to get the show trending with #Awake, take some time to send the advertiser your thanks!

via @awakefancentral:

Last week our Awake Advertiser was the Campbell's Soup Company and we got a great response for our first week of this project. Hopefully, we can grow from last week of the project and get to be known.

The Awake Advertiser Project is a project to let advertisers, NBC, fans, and the rest of the world know about the fan dedication of Awake. Every week during the episode (Thursdays on NBC at 10/9c) we tweet a certain advertiser and thank them for advertising on the show.

This week's advertiser is Chevrolet. If you paid really close attention to the episode, you would have seen that Chevrolet paid for product placement in the show. When an advertiser pays for product placement, they deserve a LOT of appreciation.

So tonight, get on to Twitter and tweet @Chevrolet thanking them for advertising on Awake and how it has improved your opinion of them. Be sure that when you are tweeting them, use the hashtag #AwakeAdvertiser, and do NOT just retweet a tweet to them. Writing your own tweet to them does MUCH more!
