Advance Review: The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live - Rest in Peace

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who LiveIf you've never seen a stitch of The Walking Dead or aren't caught up to how Rick (Andrew Lincoln) or Michonne (Danai Gurira) departed the series, then here is a brief rundown before you dive into this new spinoff series The Ones Who Live:

After being blown off a bridge, Rick is literally taken from his home, his family, and lost for years. Then Michonne discovers he's still alive, and goes off to find him. This new tale is a search for love, for destiny. The Queen sets out to find her lost and fallen King, and bring him back.

This, gentle readers, is indeed an epic love story, a modern, apocalyptic spin on a fairy tale. It will answer the question: can true love conquer and prevail?

The musical score of this series, I feel, is the best The Walking Dead-verse has had to offer to date. The writing is both right, quick-paced, all while offering an intimate view of these characters and their new journey forward. Thematic and dark with smatterings of sunshine, it not only broadens the universe, but is of a caliber that could have meant itself to films. In short, this is cinema.

One of the things I loathe about reviews and online chatter are spoilers. I don’t know what other reviewers will say about what they saw, but I am gonna do my damndest to leave this spoiler free. More than that, what occurs in the first ten minutes, as a fan, as a Richonne shipper, as a Rick Grimes fan, left a hitch in my throat, a sting in my eye. Beauty, pain and sorrow. And I believe that you, audience members, deserve to experience that unfiltered. Untainted.

Exclusive Video Interview: Quantum Leap’s Caitlin Bassett & Eliza Taylor on Their Relationship with Ben & More

***The following contains slight spoilers for tonight's episode***Quantum LeapNBC’s Quantum Leap takes place thirty years after the events of the original series when Dr. Sam Beckett vanished. The series follows Ben Song (Raymond Lee) who leaps into the bodies of people in the past and has been since unable to return to the present. Things became complicated for Ben this season when his fiancé and hologram, Addison (Caitlin Bassett) thought that he died. Years passed in reality, when for Ben it seemed like days. Addison moved on, falling in love with the man who got her through his death, Tom (Peter Gadiot), and Ben had a hard time accepting it. Then, Ben met Hannah (Eliza Taylor), a woman in the past that he shared a connection with, and they fell in love, the leaps pulling them together time and again, though each time years apart.

In tonight’s all-new episode, Addison broke up with Tom, but does that mean she’s once again destined to be with Ben, or will Ben continue his relationship through time, with Hannah never meeting the real Ben Song?

Yesterday, Bassett and Taylor spoke with SciFi Vision about their relationship with Ben and what could be in their characters’ futures, including if Addison accepting Tom’s proposal was in any way influenced by the appearance of Hannah and if she is ready to be with Ben again, what Hannah’s happy ending looks like to Taylor and what time period she would like to revisit with Hannah, what it’s like filming scenes when Hannah cannot see Addison, and more.

Video Interview: Resident Alien’s Corey Reynolds Talks Investigations, Romance for Mike, & More

Resident AlienTomorrow night, season three of Syfy’s hit series Resident Alien premieres. The series follows alien Harry (Alan Tudyk), who in season three works with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to keep the earth safe from the Grey aliens, one of whom has taken up residence as the new deputy in Patience (Enver Gjokaj).

Meanwhile, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) continue to search for the truth in the Alien Tracker case.

Recently, Reynolds spoke with SciFi Vision about what could potentially happen if Mike and Liv did find out the truth that not only is Harry an alien, but a murderer. “I don’t know how Mike…would respond once he knows what's what, if he ever does learn what's what,” the actor told the site. “I think he's certainly aware at this phase that there's definitely some sort of conspiracy…However, connecting it to aliens in any way? No way. No, he just thinks that the government probably uses aliens as a great way to do things that the government doesn't want people to think the government's doing.”

The actor went on to say that the comic series is different in that the townspeople are aware of who Harry is and protect him, but he doesn’t know if Mike would accept him. “I don't know if that would be Mike's approach,” he continued. “I don't know if he'd want to be Harry's friend, or if he'd want to be featured on Dateline as the sheriff who brought down an alien. It would be what part of his ego does he want to serve the most.”
