SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Hart Hanson & Stephen Nathan on the Return of "Bones" & the New Baby

By Jamie Ruby

BonesFox's hit series Bones returns Monday in its new timeslot, with the episode "The Prisoner in the Pipe." In the episode, human remains of an escaped fugitive are found in the sewer. When evidence indicates that the murder occurred inside the prison, Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temprance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) turn to the inmates for answers. Meanwhile Booth wants Brennan to take it easy because she is near the end of her pregnancy, but being stubborn, they end up with an untraditional birth of their new baby girl.

The executive producers of the series, Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan, recently talked to members of the digital press about Monday's episode, as well as the upcoming season.

Alcatraz 1.13 Review: "Tommy Madsen"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
alcatraz_iconDue to the steadily falling ratings of this show, I would not be surprised if this was the last episode to ever air. As a result, the finale is just not going to resolve anything. If the show does somehow get a reprieve and another season, there are some interesting questions that could be explored.

The Vampire Diaries 3.18 Review: "The Murder of One"

By John Keegan

vampire-diaries-iconMy initial reaction to this episode was frustration. There’s nothing worse than following a season-long plot arc, only to realize that most of it was a diversion, with the story circling back on itself when the final episodes arrive and it’s time to get serious about setting up a resolution. While I’ve been able to forgive some of the backtracking and red herrings this season, this latest reversal in the Team Elena vs. Originals saga is maddening.

Alcatraz 1.12 Review: "Garrett Stillman"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
alcatraz_iconThe back half of this season for "Alcatraz" has featured a good number of returning inmates who have proven intriguing. Add Garrett Stillman to that short list. His complex mind games and unpredictability more than make up for the lack of violence in his crimes. In fact, I think that's what makes him appealing.

Ringer 1.19 Review: "Let's Kill Bridget!"

by John Keegan and Henry Tran

ringer_iconThere are times when I think I have to take notes on index cards for the complicated plotlines on this show. This episode made it feel like there were three or four different people who want either Bridget or Siobhan dead. On top of that, the writers pile on more about the Ponzi scheme being run by Martin/Charles and another scheme involving land being sold to get Andrew's money back. Though, he might not have that much money if he ends up getting caught perpetuating the Ponzi scheme.

HOT FROM FOX...

BRENNAN AND BOOTH HAVE ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE
AS FOX DELIVERS AN EIGHTH SEASON OF "BONES"

It's a Girl! BONES Returns with a New Arrival on the First of Seven All-New Episodes Monday, April 2, on FOX

FOX has renewed the hit series BONES for its upcoming eighth season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

"Over the past seven seasons, Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan and the incredible BONES cast and crew have redefined the traditional crime procedural with an irreverent and adventurous sensibility and I'm really happy to have this distinctive, fan-favorite on our schedule for another season," Reilly said.

BONES returns with seven in a row, all-new episodes on a new night and at a new time beginning Monday, April 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). In the first of these episodes, "The Prisoner in the Pipe," the remains of an escaped convict are found in a residential sewer, but an examination of the sewer pipes indicates that the murder occurred within prison walls. When Brennan (Emily Deschanel) insists on solving the crime – despite Booth's (David Boreanaz) pleas for her not to overexert herself – the expectant couple experience a very untraditional arrival of their baby daughter.

Once Upon a Time 1.17 Review: "Hat Trick"

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys
once_upon_a_timeIn the later, more megalomaniacal, phase of his career, Robert Heinlein championed the concept of the World as Myth. He held that the act of creating fictional worlds is so powerful that all of those worlds including, of course, his own, actually exist as parallel universes to our own. It allowed the characters of his last novels to spend time in Baum's Oz, Burrough's Barsoom, and, most notably for our purposes, Carroll's Wonderland. While it may have been the final hubristic spasm of a Grand Master, it is a concept that proves useful to the writers of “Once Upon A Time” in “Hat Trick”.

Exclusive: Jason Isaacs - Living the Dream

Exclusive Interview with Jason Isaacs
Interview by Jamie Ruby
Written by Jamie Ruby

Jason IsaacsJason Isaacs is everywhere these days. Whether you know him as Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter, or you've seen his face on a billboard recently advertising his new series, Awake, it's likely you've seen him. Isaacs is not new to the industry by any means. He's appeared in such films as Event Horizon, Armageddon, The Patriot, and more recently Abduction, as well as on television in The State Within, Brotherhood, and Case Histories.

Right now Isaacs can be seen back on television on the new NBC series, Awake. He stars as Detective Michael Britten, who has recently been in a car accident and as such lives in two realities. In the "green" reality, his son Rex survived the crash, and his wife Hannah died. He goes to sleep and when he wakes up in the "red" reality, his wife is with him, but they lost their son. Unwilling to accept either reality, Britten lives in both, not knowing which is real.

Living in both realities, Britten often gets clues in one that can help him solve cases in the other. Sometimes what he learns may be of a more personal nature and help him to understand something about his son or wife that he previously did not.

Earlier in the week Jason Isaacs talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his new series, Awake, which airs Thursdays on NBC.

Mad Men 5.1/5.2 Review: "A Little Kiss"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

mad_menAll of the characters grapple with fantasy versus reality in this large, though very welcome, return for "Mad Men". What they think they're getting in their lives clashes with the reality that comes afterward. There's a certain expectation that is demanded from everyone and they are continuing to struggle to meet those demands. It is the middle of the 1960's decade, a time of great social upheval and change, and it's finally coming for the occupants of Madison Avenue. What is really great about this show, something that I would never expect from a drama about advertising executives, is that this episode doesn't just establish the status quo like many season premieres do, but the story moves forward.
