SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Awake 1.5 Review: "Oregon"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

awakereviewiconBased on the few episodes that have aired after the pilot, there seems to be more interest in the events of the Rex world more than the Hannah world. I really wouldn't have noticed until this episode, when the police worked the serial killer case in the Rex world, while the primary conflict in the Hannah world was if she was going to move to Portland, Oregon. I don't want to underestimate the importance of that decision, but the amount of focus on the police cases in the Rex world may suggest that it is the correct reality and that the Hannah world is Michael's dream. His job as a police detective may also become untenable if he and Hannah move away from Los Angeles. There is just no telling what will happen to the realities when or if that big decision is made.

Exclusive: Rick Howland Talks "Lost Girl"

Exclusive Interview with Rick Howland of Lost Girl

Rick HowlandLost Girl, which was recently acquired by Syfy, will be airing the season one finale next week, followed shortly by the season two premiere.

The series follows the character of Bo (Anna Silk), who discovers that she is not human, but Fae, a succubus to be exact. She must learn to control her powers while sidestepping the boundaries of the Light and Dark Fae by refusing to choose sides. She is joined by Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried), a detective, who is also Light Fae and happens to be a shifter, and her doctor, Lauren (Zoie Palmer), a human. The three of them form an interesting love triangle of sorts. Bo also gets help from her best friend Kenzie (Ksenia Solo), as well as the bartender Fitzpatrick "Trick" McCorrigan, played by Rick Howland, who is not only a Light Fae, but also quite powerful and mysterious.

Rick Howland recently talked to SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his role on Lost Girl.

Supernatural 7.18 Review: "Party On, Garth"

By John Keegan

supernatural_iconComing on the heels of the emotionally charged previous episode, it’s perhaps understandable that the writers would want to follow it up with something a little more light-hearted. They do eventually manage to give the episode far more heft with its final moments (even if they telegraphed the reveal to the hilt), but the core of the episode is a mixture of terror and outright hilarity.

Fringe 4.16 Review: "Nothing As It Seems"

By John Keegan

Fringe-Glyphs-meu-anjo-17630623-160-160Much of this season has felt like a return to some of the concepts of the first season, now armed with the improvements and layers that were added in the interim, and this episode is a perfect example of that. It’s also another great example of how the changes between original and overlaid timelines have led to different results.

The Secret Circle 1.18 Review: "Sacrifice"

By John Keegan

the-secret-circle-iconIt’s telling that we’re this close to the end of the season, and yet I still feel like this series/season hasn’t figured out where it wants to go or how to wrap all the various threats and problems into one manageable package. Some attempt is made in this episode to combine a few plot threads, but it’s not particularly convincing.

Merlin 4.13 Review: "The Sword in the Stone: Part II"

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

merlinThis has been a rather disappointing and troublesome season of "Merlin". Despite obvious efforts to move the show in a new direction and build upon past strengths, this season has been nowhere near the improvement that I hoped it would be. Chief among the show's many flaws is its inability to properly integrate the serialized storytelling into its episodic structure. With so much of the season having underwhelmed me, I pinned the remainder of my hopes on the finale, knowing that the premieres and the finales tended to be stronger than most episodes.

Exclusive: Jeremy LaLonde Talks "Sex After Kids"

Exclusive Interview with Jeremy LaLonde of Sex After Kids
Interview by Jamie Ruby
Written by Jamie Ruby

Jeremy LaLondeJeremy LaLonde is the writer and director of the upcoming independent film Sex After Kids, which is about how couples' relationships change after they have children.

LaLonde recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview, as well as joined the Fandom Access podcast to talk about the project.

The idea for the film came to LaLonde in an unusual way. "It's something very near and dear to me. Also I was looking for an ensemble film to do and I literally saw an article in a magazine titled "Sex After Kids," and it just hit me really hard that no one that I knew of had done something this extensive with this topic, and it's an exciting topic that I think people will enjoy discussing after."

The film should appeal to many because it has such a broad potential audience. "It's such a big subject and everyone that has children has to deal with it."

A Note From the Editor

You may notice that the top menu has changed. At the moment some links may be duplicated. The new category TV is only partially finished, and at the moment the subitems link to category pages that are empty in addition to the articles. I am working on changing that, so please bear with me. I hope that when I am finished the navigation will be a lot easier to use.

Alcatraz 1.13 Review: "Tommy Madsen"

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
alcatraz_iconDue to the steadily falling ratings of this show, I would not be surprised if this was the last episode to ever air. As a result, the finale is just not going to resolve anything. If the show does somehow get a reprieve and another season, there are some interesting questions that could be explored.
