Exclusive: Michael Jacobs on Directing the Star-Studded Maybe I Do

Maybe I DoMichael Jacobs has been an icon on TV and in movies for years. He has directed many television shows and movies, including Boy Meets World and The Torkelsons, bringing many generations fond childhood memories.

Now he is back and better than ever with a brand-new movie called Maybe I Do, starring William H. Macy, Susan Sarandon, and Diane Keaton. It is a twist on the typical romantic comedy and has been something that has been years in the making. He began working on it as a play and eventually decided to make it into a movie.

“It’s been gestating a long time, because it ran as a play,” Jacobs told SciFi Vision. “I had started writing this idea when I was about nineteen years old. I think I was in a relationship, and I had said, ‘I love you,’ and they said, ‘How do you just say that?’ It seems so simple for ‘I love you’ to come out of your mouth when you're a kid, and you don't know what you're talking about. I sat down, and I started to write this. It was a relationship comedy that was based on this young woman who thought that the relationship was farther down the road and was surprised to find out that her partner was reticent and then finds out that the reticence comes from the fact that we are offshoots of our upbringing. I wrote the idea, and it ran on Broadway.”

The Last of Us Pulls on Our Heartstrings Again

“Endure and Survive” - 1.05 - Recap & Review

The Last of UsLast night, the fifth episode of The Last of Us premiered on HBO. The episode, through flashbacks of the Kansas City QZ, shows how Fedra fell, taken over by Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) and her group, and how they killed any collaborators. Ten days later, the timeline meets backup with the cliffhanger from last week with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) being held at gunpoint by eight-year-old Sam (Keivonn Woodard), who it’s revealed is deaf, and his older brother Henry (Lamar Johnson). It’s eventually revealed that Kathleen is after the two because Henry turned the leader of the resistance, Kathleen’s brother, into Fedra in order to get life-saving medicine for Sam.

Henry knows a way out but needs Joel’s help in getting them out of the city. Eventually Ellie convinces Joel to help and they join forces. Henry has reason to believe that Fedra secretly cleared the tunnels beneath the city of the infected, unbeknownst to Kathleen, making it unlikely the militia would go down there after them.

The four emerge from the tunnel only to be shot at by a sniper. Joel leaves them to hide while he takes care of the sniper. Revealing that the sniper was a lookout, Kathleen and her people arrive and she tries to flush them out. However, before Kathleen can get her revenge, we find out where the infected had relocated, as a truck is pulled into a big hole, and all the infected come crawling out, attacking everyone.

Jack HustonTonight’s all-new episode of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, entitled “The Thrall,” followed the results of Aunt Carlotta (Beth Grant) attempting to kill Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) in the fire and destroy Lasher (Jack Huston). An angry Lasher locks Rowan and Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) in the Mayfair house, trying to get her to accept him and the power it grants her.

Huston didn’t know anything about the books when he first took on the role of Lasher in the series, but he really liked the way the show was going to be adapted. “I thought it was something that I hadn't seen before,” the actor told SciFi Vision during a recent interview. “I thought, as much as it was in the realm of science fiction and the idea of witchcraft and magic and everything, it felt very rooted in rather human sort of problems, and all the rest of it as well, the relationships. So, I was excited to get into this character of Lasher.”

Exclusive Video Interview: The Watchful Eye Stars Amy Acker & Warren Christie & Showrunner Emily Fox

The Watchful EyeThe new thrilling series The Watchful Eye premieres tonight on Freeform. The series follows Elena Santos (Mariel Molino) as she skillfully puts herself in position to be hired as a live-in nanny for a rich widower (Warren Christie) living at The Greybourne, a landmark apartment complex in Manhattan. Elena has ulterior motives for wanting the position, but it turns out, she’s not the only one with secrets, and those hidden within the walls of the mysterious building could be deadly.

The building is an important part of the series, a character in itself. “The first thing I was drawn to was the building.” showrunner Emily Fox told SciFi Vision during a recent press day, “The idea of writing about a world that's set inside of what appears to be a castle but that turns out to be a bit of a prison in a way, or a maze of lies, and this gorgeous sort of like confection of archways and marble and everything, but underneath it is this scary basement, just felt like a great allegory for the American dream, where it's like, ‘Oh, it looks really beautiful, but underneath is all this toil and pain and secrets and mysteries and and things like that.’ I love world building, and I love building a puzzle and a mystery and leaving trails of pebbles…and I've never really done anything like this before. So, I was excited by the challenge of that.”

Exclusive: Stars Mariel Molino, Jon Ecker, & Aliyah Royale Talk The Watchful Eye

The Watchful EyeTonight, Freeform premieres the new series The Watchful Eye. Mariel Molino stars as Elena Santos, a cunning young woman, who with the help of her boyfriend Scott Macedo (Jon-Michael Ecker), cons her way into the position of live-in nanny for a rich family at The Greybourne in Manhattan. Elena quickly discovers, however, that the history of the apartment complex is full of mysteries, and she’s not the only one with secrets.

For star Molino, it was the dark side of her character that made her want to be a part of the project. “For me, it was that duplicity with Elena,” the actress told SciFi Vision during a recent interview. “[It was] not knowing what her motivation was, and why she was being deceitful and kind of what this grift was, why was she, in a sense, conning this family? That was that was that was really interesting to me, because I love to play someone who is complicated like that.”
