NEW YORK – January 30, 2014 – They’re back – and shark happens! Syfy and The Asylum today announced that Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will reprise their roles as Fin and April in the eagerly awaited Sharknado sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One, which begins filming in New York February 13.
Anthony Ferrante will once again direct a screenplay by Thunder Levin, who also wrote Sharknado, the iconic pop culture sensation which chainsawed its way through social media last summer.
SYFY DOUBLES UP ON FAN-FAVORITE SERIES HAVEN ORDERING 26 NEW EPISODES FIRST 13 EPISODES TO PREMIERE THIS FALL
NEW YORK – January 28, 2014 – Syfy has greenlit 26 new episodes of its hit series Haven, which posted growth in both Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 last year. The first 13 episodes of Season 5 are set to premiere this fall with the remaining 13 episodes scheduled to air in 2015.
Tallying its best season ever in social mentions and Twitter activity, Haven’s recently wrapped fourth season was up 11% among Adults 18-34 (314,000) and up 3% year-to-year among Adults 18-49 (926,000). Overall, Haven averaged 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 2.3 million viewers per week and ranked second in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 among original cable series in its Friday 10PM ET/PT time slot. Series stars Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant and Eric Balfour will reprise their roles of Audrey Parker, Nathan Wournos and Duke Crocker, respectively. Production on 26 all-new episodes is set to begin on location in Halifax, Nova Scotia this spring.
SYFY’S HIT SERIES HELIX SHATTERS CHANNEL RECORDS IN L7 LEAPING 82% AMONG ADULTS 18-49 AND 74% IN ADULTS 25-54
NEW YORK – January 27, 2014 – Syfy’s new hit series Helix continued to set channel DVR records, leaping 82% among Adults 18-49 (1.34 million), 74% in Adults 25-54 (1.55 million) and 64% in total viewers (3.0 million) for the premiere on January 10 – the largest increases ever for a Syfy scripted series in L7 viewing.
Impressions are based on L7 data. The growth is based on L7 versus L+SD (Live+ Same Day) data. Comparisons are to Syfy’s scripted original series premieres since L7 ratings started being recorded by Nielsen.

NEW YORK – January 15, 2014 – Intensifying the infection of the American television audience, Syfy’s new drama Helix shattered channel ratings records for L+3 growth, soaring 64 percent in Adults 18-49 (1.2 million), 57 percent among Adults 25-54 (1.4 million) and 53 percent among total viewers (2.8 million).
This feverish percentage and absolute L+SD to L+3 growth for the Helix debut (Friday, January 10 at 10PM) are the highest for any Syfy original series premiere since Nielsen first recorded L+3 in 2007.
Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic, Arctic Biosystems, to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel.
