Advance Review: Ascension - A Unique Voyage Into Space

By Jamie Ruby

AscensionMonday night Syfy premieres its new limited event, Ascension, which will run for three consecutive nights. The series follows a century-long space voyage as it has reached it's point of no return at fifty-one years, when there is a murder aboard the ship that will cause the crew and inhabitants to question their mission.

One of the interesting things about the series is that although it takes place in the present, the starship Ascension was launched in the 1960s. Therefore, none of the passengers have been influenced by the outside world and have developed their own society aboard the ship. As far as they know, they could be the last survivors of the human race after the Cold War. This makes it not only unique, but also poses problems for those dealing with the murder, as there is no outside help.

Advance Review: The Flash

By Jamie Ruby

The FlashTomorrow CW premieres it's new series, The Flash, which is a spinoff of Arrow. The show follows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who's mother was killed and his father was convicted of the murder when he was only eleven. His best friend Iris (Candice Patton)'s father, Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), took him in and raised him. Now working with West, Barry is an observant CSI investigator. Though West has always thought his mother's case was open and shut and is sure his father is the culprit, Barry refuses to give up.

Barry is a science geek and goes to see the unveiling of physicist Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh)'s particle accelerator, but during the test something goes wrong and many people are affected. Barry wakes up after a nine month coma to find that he has super speed, and intends to use it to help others.

Advance Review: Sleepy Hollow Season 2

Sleepy HollowTomorrow FOX's hit series Sleepy Hollow returns for season two with all new episodes. The supernatural series is a reimagining of the legend and follows Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) after he is awakened after being buried for two and one half centuries. He and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) must work together to stop the Headless Horseman and the apocalypse, all while he continues to acclimate himself to the modern world.

Season two picks up where season one left off, with Crane buried alive by Henry Parish (John Noble) who he recently discovered was not only the Horseman of War, but also his son, and Mills stuck in purgatory.

Things are not as they seem, and they must work together to stop the end of days as well as try to save Crane's wife, Katrina (Katia Winter), who has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman.

To make matters worse, the one person who believed them at the police department department, Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones), is headed off to prison after pleading guilty for a murder he didn't commit.

HavenThe fifth season of Haven, which airs tonight on Syfy, picks up where the fourth left off. The door to the other world has been closed, leaving William (Colin Ferguson) on the other side and a none too happy Mara having taken over Audrey (Emily Rose).

Orphan Black: Variable & Full of Perturbation Review & Recap

By Jamie Ruby

Orphan BlackEvery week Orphan Black gets crazier and I love it even more. This week we were introduced to a new clone, Tony, a transgender. The scenes between Tony and Felix are some of the best of the week. I was laughing while also cringing when he kissed Felix (Sister Kisser!).

The show does such a fantastic job week after week of juxtapositioning the comedy against the drama. So many times what is going on is something serious, but hilariously so. Another example this week is when Donnie confesses to killing Leekie. You really can't help but laugh at the absurdity of Alison and her husband, but of course in the best way possible.

Early Review: Warehouse 13 - Endless : Bring Tissues

By Jamie Ruby

Warehouse 13Monday Warehouse 13 will open its doors for the last time, when Syfy airs the final episode. The finale was written by John-Paul Nickel and directed by executive producer Jack Kenny.

Kenny has said in previous interviews that the episode was a love letter to the fans, and it really is. The episode does a great job in closing out the show and packs tons of great scenes in. The episode is a clip show, but in the best way, because it's clips that people have never seen before.
