Advance Review: Broadchurch Season 2 Finale, Airing Tonight on BBC America

BroadchurchWill Joe be convicted of murder, or will he walk free? Who killed Lisa Newberry and Pippa Gillespie? Will the Latimer family be able to survive the trial? And, perhaps most importantly, will Miller and Hardy become a couple? These are just a few of the questions that were proposed at the beginning of Broadchurch’s second season, and viewers can rest assured, they will be answered in the season finale.

Throughout Broadchurch’s sophomore season, viewers have been biting their nails throughout the swirling intrigue of the converging plotlines (as well as the annoying court case, but more on that later). Coming off of the fast-paced first season, this season has had its stagnant moments. However, just when the viewer starts to worry, the story takes an unexpected twist, which is expertly handled by writer/creator, Chris Chibnall. Courtroom drama expert Chibnall is not, as evidenced by the numerous goofs in his courtroom scenes. That said, Chibnall’s strong skills in mystery, relationship drama, and suspense are immaculate, allowing the audience to forgive him for any transgression on the courtroom front. Finales can always be difficult, and dealing with tough subject matter means that endings are never happy. Yet Chibnall manages to draw all storylines to a satisfying close, leaving just enough room for a third season.

Advance Review: The Messengers - A Fresh Addition to the Supernatural Genre

The MessengersTonight the new series The Messengers premieres on The CW. In the first episode, a mysterious object crashes on earth, exploding in blinding light. From it comes a shockwave, that upon hitting five strangers across the country, causes them to fall and die in an instant, and then suddenly wake back up. After the event, the few are not the same as before and have special gifts, from extra strength to the ability to heal. An even bigger change? They all have beautiful white wings in their reflections.

Also from the fire of the crash comes a mysterious and ominous man (Diogo Morgado), who seems to be less than angelic.

Advance Review: Bitten Returns with Darker Tones & More Bite

BittenBitten returns Friday night to Syfy with an all-new special two-hour premiere of season two.

The series picks up a few days after it left off. Jeremy (Greg Bryk) found out that James William (James McGowan) was actually his father, Malcolm, Logan (Michael Xavier)'s girlfriend, Rachel (Genelle Williams), who is pregnant with his child, was kidnapped by Malcolm, and Elena (Laura Vandervoort) found Philip (Paul Greene)'s severed head in her bed. Season two doesn't slow down from there. The pack must hunt down and kill Malcolm or Jeremy must step down as Alpha.

Season two brings a new supernatural element to the show as witches are introduced. The Pack meet two witches are willing to do what they need to get what they want, even if it involves hurting werewolves, who they say they want to help. The worst part is, there is someone or something much much worse out there, something even Malcolm's afraid of.

Exclusive: Ben Gleib Hosts a New Season of Idiotest Starting 4/1

Ben GleibOn April 1st, GSN will start to air an all-new second season of their popular game show, Idiotest. Recently host and comedian Ben Gleib, talked to (and often joked with) Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his work on the show and the new season.

The host first talked about how he became involved with Idiotest. "I had done a few things for GSN over the years, and they said they were looking for a show for me. I didn't believe it but it turns out to be true. If I didn't believe it at this point I would just be very stubborn, because I totally have a show on their network."

Gleib thinks the uniqueness of the show has helped it to become popular. "It's a very different kind of game show than I think people are used to seeing. We just don't test trivia. We test your brain and how well it works on tests that everyone should know the answers to, so it's an interesting experiment.

"And we mix that with a lot of comedy, so even if you didn't get the question right you'll hopefully be laughing a few seconds later. Plus it's very fun to play along with at home, from what I'm told."

Exclusive: Mark Ghanimé Talks Helix Season Two

Mark GhaniméTonight another new episode of Helix airs on Syfy. The season has been full of shocks and twists. This season Sergio Balleseros, played by Mark Ghanimé, has still been working at Ilaria, but he has been working with Julia Walker (Kyra Zagorsky) to find a way to stop them from committing genocide in an attempt to control the population.

Last week on Helix, Balleseros fell from a bell tower after having been pushed off by Sister Amy (Alison Louder), and viewers were left to debate his fate.

Yesterday Ghanimé talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his work on the show and his character's journey.

Balleseros loyalties have continued to change this season. Ghanimé talked a bit about what thinks really brought the changes on, since there weren't any flashbacks. "I don't think it had to do with Julia. I think it had to do with what Hatake (Hiroyuki Sanada) was doing with the kids in season one and my relationship with Anana (Luciana Carro). That kind of got me going on this better path, and I think I linked up with Julia because it afforded me the opportunity to get in on the inside. Just like she was using me for whatever reason, Balleseros wasn't going to just be someone's whipping boy again, but he developed feelings for her, and he developed care towards her, and as they worked together more and spent more time together, he wanted to take care of her and make sure the mission got done."

Helix - Mother - 2.10 Review

HelixLast night's Helix was a doozy, and half the characters have gone off the deep end.

Last week Sarah attempted to make Landry immortal, and this week we get to see the complete result of that disaster, as he looks like Quasimodo. Amy has absolutely no patience and flips her lid, demanding Sarah fix it. Sarah is running out of time, as now Amy found another immortal to get what she wants from: Julia.

Julia thinks she can stop Ilaria from genocide by finding Michael's research for global sterilization. They just need the "mother" tree root, which Michael entrusted the location of to only two people: Anne and Landry - her son. So crazy Amy has been getting off her own brother. Though apparently everyone on the island is related to her anyway, as Michael has been raping all the women of the island. I think this show likes incest a bit too much.

iZombie - a Quirky, Fun, & Unique Take on the Genre

iZombieTuesday The CW will be premiering its new series, iZombie.

Zombies are certainly popular as of late with the success of the hugely watched The Walking Dead and other recent projects like Syfy's Z Nation and films the past few years such as World War Z and Warm Bodies. Comparisons are obviously going to be made by many. Upon reading about iZombie, however, it seemed like it would be something different, and it was.

iZombie is a quirky and fun romp. It's got the humor and heart of Warm Bodies, but it's definitely its own thing. The show doesn't take itself too serious at times, which is as it should be.

The series, which is based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred for the comic book of the same name, follows Olivia "Liv" Moore, played by Rose McIver (Masters of Sex, Once Upon a Time), who has a bright future ahead of her in medicine and even a handsome fiance (Robert Buckley); everything is falling into place. Then suddenly everything is ripped away from her one night when she is turned into a zombie. Everything changes, from her look, to her upbeat personality.
