Last August 24th, SciFi Vision was extremely lucky to get an exclusive visit to the Defiance set. This was my second time visiting after the Syfy Digital Press Tour last summer, however it was the first time for my writer Karen Moul, who accompanied me.
Even the second time, I was still in awe of the beauty and size of the backlot. It's easy to let reality fall away and feel like you are really in the town of Defiance.

Anybody who has watched or listened to interviews with the cast of Warehouse 13 can easily see how well they get along and how much fun they have together; it's really quite infectious. Over the years I have had the privilege of interviewing the cast, as well as executive producer Jack Kenny, on multiple occasions. I even visited the set in Toronto as part of the Syfy Digital Press Tour a couple years ago.
When I visited the set again last August for SciFi Vision, along with writer Karen Moul, I experienced that energy, yet another feeling as well. I was there during the series finale and one of the last days of filming for the cast, in fact, it was the last day they filmed in Artie (Saul Rubinek)'s office. There was a feeling of somberness for everyone as the day wound down and it started to sink in. I felt quite honored to be able to be there at such a significant time.

Last October the digital press visited the set of Helix as part of the the Syfy Digital Press Tour. Part of the photos had been embargoed, but as such have now been released in time for the season finale.
The third Helix set location (see parts 1 & 2) was actually a real life research facility. We started off down to the underground base where the door to the facility was surrounded by fake snow. Director/executive producer Brad Turner picked up the cord to demonstrate how the characters hold on to it to move around outside.

Back in October, the digital press was given access to the set of Being Human as part of the Digital Press Tour, and SciFi Vision took part. Day Two of the Syfy Digital Press Tour started with a bus ride to the set of Being Human. We first were given a catered breakfast in a room that was surrounded by props and practical effects and prosthetics. We were given time to walk around and look at them all and take photos. They were all very detailed.

Isolated. Alone yet claustrophobic in a facility with no way to escape. Hunted by a man who doesn't seem quite human anymore. Who can you trust; people turning on their friends and neighbors.
All of these are feelings the characters in Helix must inexplicably feel from the terror that is among them, being confined to the research facility that will be their new home for their indeterminable future.
In October, the digital press was given special access to the set of Helix, and SciFi Vision took part.
