SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Lost Girl 2.20 Review: "Lachlan's Gambit"

By John Keegan and Paul Pearson

Lost-Girl-Season-2-thumbAfter a spotty lead-up, “Lost Girl” is ready to launch into its big end-of-season conflict between Team Bo and the Garuda. But after too many episodes where not much happened, the writers have gone too far in the other direction and tried to cram too much into this first part of the big conclusion. The result is an episode the jumps around like a jittercam; every genuinely fantastic element is shoved roughly against some weakness of plot or presentation. The episode makes an impact, but not nearly as much as it could have.

ABC Family Conference Call
Switched at Birth
Lea Thompson

August 28, 2012
2:00 p.m. ET

Lea ThompsonMost fans will recognize Lea Thompson from movies, such as the Back to the Future films, or from television where she played the title role in the series Caroline in the City. Thompson now, however, stars as Kathryn Kennish in ABC Family's Switched at Birth. In the show, Kathryn is shocked when she discovers that the daughter she raised, Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano), belongs to another family, who have her and her husband (D.W. Moffett)'s biological daughter, Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc).

Thompson recently talked to the press about her role in Switched at Birth.

Callie Thorne: Necessary Roughness

By Christiane Elin

Callie ThorneSome of Necessary Roughness’s story lines are wrapping up while new ones emerge on the mid-season finale. During a conference call SciFi Vision attended with Necessary Roughness star, Callie Thorne, she shared her thoughts about the mid-season finale.

“T.K. and Dani and Matt and Nico all are sort of forced into this big fork in the road that is about choice. And not being able to figure out if there’s a right or a wrong. I think we all were in this place, we were all very excited to be and to have the show take this particular tone for a finale.”

Thorne goes on to say, “we wanted to keep everything really grounded in reality and not have it necessarily be something soap opera-ish, but much more developed in the big choices in life, the game changers.”

Exclusive: Peter Shinkoda Talks Season Finale of "Falling Skies" Part Two

Exclusive Interview with Peter Shinkoda of Falling Skies
Interview by Jamie Ruby
Written by Jamie Ruby

Peter ShinkodaRecently Falling Skies came to an end for the summer. Many fans were sad to see Dai, played by Peter Shinkoda, die in the season finale. I recently talked to the actor in an exclusive interview for SciFi Vision specifically about filming the death sequence and the end of his journey on the series.

Shinkoda did not know until the last minute that this season would be his last. "Honestly it was very late in the game. I could have learned earlier, I wish I could have learned earlier, as an actor. But the thing was, the situation didn't lend itself to that.

Covert Affairs 3.6 Review: "Hello Stranger"

By John Keegan

covert_affairs_by_narcizze-d4l60o2With the series dangerously close to hitting the dreaded reset button, I wasn't sure what to think about this episode when it started. Annie was back in the fold with Joan, butting heads with her superiors over an operation with the potential for serious repercussions. Besides Auggie being in therapy, how was this an evolution of the story?

White Collar 4.6 Review: "Identity Crisis"

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

white-collar-posterAh, the "treasure hunt". Already, it's been the focus of the show's longest-running story arc, and at least one episodic story that I can think of. I remember that episode being a fun, lighthearted romp, and it left me wishing that "White Collar" would do more "treasure hunt" episodes. Wish fulfilled. "National Treasure"-type escapades are nothing new for "White Collar", but it's rare to see it so unabashedly embraced as it is here. The episode's climax doesn't quite live up to the promising earlier half or so, but an amusing and intriguing last-minute twist seems to leave the door open for sequel episodes.
