SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Grimm 2.14 Review: “Natural Born Wesen”

By John Keegan

Grimm-2As anticipated, this episode of Grimm brings the dangerous obsession between Renard and Juliette to an end. But everything has lingering side effects in the Wesen world, it appears, because no one is getting out of this situation cleanly. Nick can’t wrap his brain around the notion that Renard wasn’t controlling his own emotions and making his own choices, and Juliette is living through her own personal version ofPoltergeist.

Once Upon a Time 2.16 Review: “The Miller’s Daughter”

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys

once_upon_a_timeOnce Upon A Time brings the reign of the Evil Queens to a close with “The Miller’s Daughter.” Cora’s background is filled in finally, and it becomes clear her storyline would have benefitted immensely from presenting this earlier. This show used to excel at giving archetypal characters a human dimension. Instead, for the third time this season (Jack, Johanna), we are presented with an interesting character, only to see them shuffled off the stage by the end of the episode. Unlike the others, Cora was around for more than one episode. But knowing her motivations sooner would have the actions of her and Regina less inexplicable.

Nichols, Webster, & Barry on the Season Finale of "Continuum"

By Jamie Ruby

Victor Webster and Rachel NicholsMonday, season one of Continuum will come to a shocking conclusion while Kiera races to stop a terrorist attack that she knows will be devastating and bring the Liber8 movement to the forefront. In preparation of the episode airing on Syfy, the series stars Rachel Nichols, who plays Kiera, and Victor Webster, who plays Carlos, as well as the creator and executive producer, Simon Barry, talked to the digital media. They discussed the season finale, as well as teased about what's in store for season two.

Executive producer Barry revealed to SciFi Vision that at some point, Kiera may have to start to reveal some of her secrets to Carlos. "We obviously want to get to a point, at some point, where we've mined him not knowing and sort of dealing with their relationship based on trust and faith, to the point where it makes sense, and then to move on from that point. I can't tell you exactly when that's going to happen, but I think that we're all in agreement that it's best for their relationship to evolve at a certain point; we're just not locked into when that's going to happen."

Silas Weir Mitchell On "The Inner Lives of Wesens"

By Karen Moul

Silas Weir Mitchell on NBC's In tonight’s all-new episode of Grimm, a group of Wesen criminals commit a string of robberies fully morphed in front of humans, a serious violation of the Wesen code. Silas Weir Mitchell, who costars as everyone’s favorite Blutbad Monroe, shared some details with us.

“You're really not supposed to show your inner self in order to take advantage of the normal people in the world,” he explained. “It's immoral and it also could tear at the fabric of reality for people.”

He added that “it's a big no-no because it exposes too much of the way the world really works. You have to behave a certain way. And if you go outside of that, you are in big trouble.”

Monroe is present during one of the crimes. “The bank robbery was intense,” Weir told us. “They were firing off full loads with automatic weapons. And it was loud and it was scary.

“I hope that comes across on screen because it was pretty cool to be there.”

The Vampire Diaries 4.16 Review: “Bring It On”

By John Keegan

vampire-diaries-iconThe previous episode saw the loss of the last remnants of Elena’s former life. Even if she is somehow restored to her humanity (what I believe would be a bad creative decision), what is left for her? Nothing can be the same anymore, and as if to punctuate that point for the audience, her high school graduation is also approaching. Though one could rationally question why that would be much of an ongoing concern, given what is a normal day in Mystic Falls.

Justified 4.10 Review: “Get Drew”

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

Justified_iconEverybody wants Drew (Goddamn) Thompson. I personally found the depth of this episode most impressive despite its lack of overt action. Justified may be a Western set in modern times, but there doesn’t always have to be a shootout present in every episode of a season. Since Drew Thompson is on the run, that prompts much of Harlan County to go into a kind of craze. Boyd wants him to give him to Theo Tonin; The Marshals want him to close a 30-year old cold case; Ellen May sees him as her savior from a destitute life.

Lost Girl 3.8 Review: “Fae-ge Against the Machine”

By John Keegan

Lost-Girl-Season-2-thumbLost Girl has been on a roll, so it was inevitable that they would stumble again sooner or later. It’s just not that consistent a show to keep up the pace. This had the feel of an episode that had a lot of the right elements, but just couldn’t put them together. Given some of the stilted performances and pacing issues, I have to wonder if this was a bad script or a directorial misfire.

Person of Interest 2.17 Review: “Proteus”

By John Keegan and Edmund Boys

person_of_interest_iconIt was a dark and stormy night on Person of Interest, with an episode that plays out like an Agatha Christie who-done-it. Right from the top, the Cinema Village marquee lets us know we’re in for a “Vintage Throwback”. With the Machine not spitting out a number for three straight days, the team has a chance to take in some classic movies. Rashomon and The Rain People turn out to essential viewing, once The Machine returns with six names. They’ll be sifting through conflicting stories for the truth, and someone has taken off across America in search of a new identity.
